Having had an indifferent experience on the Silver Shadow Alaska 2006, we booked a short cruise on the Whisper Dubai-Mumbai.The stops included 2 in Oman,1 in the U.A.E.and the an overnight in Mumbai before flying home.We flew to Dubai a day before the cruise started and stayed overnight in Le Meridian near to the airport. We paid the extra $100 pp to embark early which was worth every cent.At around 10.30am boarded the ship, had a champagne check in and escorted to our Veranda Suite(628).Awaiting our arrival was a bottle of "Pomery"champagne with stawberries dipped in chocolate. Our Swedish stewardess asked what spirits and drinks we wanted for the wet bar, then gave us a choice of three different types of toiletries and pillows.Next the luggage arrives and by 11.30am we were wandering around the beautiful Silver Whisper waiting to have lunch at noon, all unpacked and ready for holiday.
To us the ports were not important but the ship was just so fantastic in EVERY respect.Within a few hours the crew seem to know your names and the service was just so fantastic in every respect. On our trip there were 365 passengers and 297 crew which is a good indusrty standard. The ship never seemed crowded even on the sea days in great weather. The food on Silverseas' is approching gourmet standards and you can always order off of the menu( I did twice )the companies intentions are never to say no to the clients. The line operates an Ultra All Inclusive product so unless you need Louis X111 brandy and Crystal champagne you cannot spend any money on food and drink.
A galley and bridge tour was arranged for us.
Our suite was a basic balcony and was the same size as most of the suites on the Big Lines. It had a bath and separate shower with twin marble wash basins. It had a Hugh "Walk In " closet and a separte, sitiing and bedding areas, and flat screen TV/DVD unit. For your use whilst on board binoculars and umberellas are provided.
The great things about Silverseas, is that you do not have to endure rubbish art auctions, inch of fake gold sales, big cash bingo and silly shows, the whole experience is six star.
People say to me that this type of cruising is expensive, if you don't drink then yes maybe! My answer is nearly always where can you stay in a 5 star hotel WITH EVERTHING INCLUDED for around £210 per day.
I think Siversea Cruises is one of the best kept travel secrets in the U.K.I better not publish my telephone number but if you would like me to call you for an un bias chat on this product the E Mail me at christopherjwillett@hotmail.com .
