don't let me put you off!!!!

Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean Cruises Times cruised before: 10+
Cruise Ship: Navigator of the Seas Sailed: October, 2008
Destination: Mediterranean Age: 65+
Hi guys my husband and I have just come off the Navigator of the Seas and although without a doubt the ship is luxury in itself, the food is not as good and has not as much variety as a Thompsons or P&O cruise ship. And if you are looking for reasonably prices drinks then forget it as a pint of beer and a half pint cost us around £11.00 and I'm not kidding! The theatre is good but the performances are not as good as we expected. On the good side there are lots of sunbeds and plenty of room in the public rooms and the staterooms are lovely. Would we do another Royal Caribbean cruise? I'm not sure but we did make great friends of all nationalities and the waiters are very efficient and happy to please you. On the whole our cruise was brilliant but then we are very outgoing people - but you have been warned.
Quality of Food4
The food was fair and we ate mostly in the dining room
Entertainment4
The most enjoyable entertainer was the juggler/comedian he had us rocking with laughter.
Shore Excursions4
We didn't go on any excursions but I believe the one in Istanbul was far too long and tiring lasting almost 10 hours!!!
Staff4
The members of staff who impressed us most was our table waitress and the compere of the shows and all the other guys who did karioke etc were very good.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activitiesn/a
For the children and the young active people the activities were good.
Cabins5
We asked for a cabin with an oceanview but were upgraded to a superior stateroom with a balcony and it was fantastic but we would have been satisfied with our original choice

I too was on this cruise and had a fantastic time. I find it hard to believe that someone could find fault with the food the choice was varied and the service superb particularly if you could be bothered to make use of all the available dining options. The drinks were found to be reasonably priced (priced in dollars and no measures here!) I would recomm end those who like wine with their meals or during the cruise to look out for the "wine and dine package" with savings of upto 25%. Cocktail of the day is good value at about $6 (£3.50) and we should know as we tried most of them. The entertainment I found excellent, a good mix to suit all tastes including 2 ice dance shows that thoroughly entertained. I was actually on the Istanbul tour mentioned and it was one of the highlights of our trip, an excellent informative guide took care of us and although at first we were a little concerned that 2 half day tours had been rolled into one we were ultimately pleased as it left the 2nd day free for us to explore under our own steamand enabled us to make the most of this amazing city. The excurtions we undertook in both Malta and Athens were equally as good and throughly enjoyed. Cruisers need to ensure they choose the right trips to suit their needs and make more effort to find out about what is on offer on their but their is no lack of information to enable you to do this and the cruise company cannot make all the decisions for you! I have cruised Royal Caribbean before and was concerned that the size of this ship would mean a loss of the personal touch I had previously encountered but due to the efforts of the excellent staff am pleased to say I did not find this to be the case.

Hi yourself Imontoyou thanks for your comment and I do mean dollars not pounds but I usually have a good time wherever I go because it's the company that will make or break your holiday and we wouldn't not drink just because we thought it was expensive because after all it is your holiday and you've saved for it. On the Arcadia we paid something just about £2.20 for beer and it was the same on Thomsons. Lovely to hear from you and thanks again for taking the bother to comment. Take care.

We've been on 3 Royal caribbean cruises and have always been happy with the drink prices. Bottled beers are around $5 plus 15% gratuity. CocKtail of the day about $6 plus 15%. Bacardi and Coke etc about $6 plus 15%. Fab Martini cocktails about $8-9 plus tax. And if you are a member of Crown and Anchor you will get a coupon book each with buy one drink, get one free vouchers.

£11.00 (pounds) for a pint and a half!!! Are you sure? We went on RCI ship Voyager and the bar prices were more or less the same as our English ships.

Hi Imontoyou once again. I have just found a receipt for the drinks I was talking about and the price was $14.38 so maybe you would like to work it out as I have been known to be wrong but as a woman NOT OFTEN By the way was was the ship Voyager like and would you recommend it. At this rate we could become penpals - only kidding.

I was on this cruise too and had a fantastic time!!! The entertainment was as good, if not better, than any I've seen before on a cruise ship. The food was also very good on the whole - I didn't have any problems finding something new and tasty to try every day. Drinks weren't cheap but were high quality.
