Saga Rubys Saga.

We had the most stressful cruise onboard Saga Ruba. The horrible fumes from the air vents and toilet gave me an infected throat, worst of all no one could fix it despite trying. In our opinion this ship should be scrapped, it is 44 years old after all.

We've just returned from a Saga Ruby cruise, 14 days visiting Baltic cities. All very good and service was excellent, and so was food. We're in our early 60s and saw the staff being very helpful from early 50s to 90s. High class standards by cabin stewards, restaurant waiters, deck crews and entertainment. Cleanliness was very good. We've also been on the Saga Rose where we can honestly say the overall conditions were similar. You pay a bit extra and get better service than many others, including the Fred Olsen ships.

Odd that a Saga Ruby negative report passes moderation. Anyone seen a Saga review on this site before?

Yes, but it was placed, as this one is, under a different ship name. 'Spirit of Adventure', though a wholly ownned Saga ship, is independant of Saga Cruises, which are not featured on this site because Saga markets the Rose and Ruby itself.

I also posted a later comment to the effect that the reviewer gets the name of the ship and company wrong, so where is the credibility of the review? The two posts from Monaghan seem a clumsy attempt to rubbish Saga.

We would support the 2 posts by Monaghan and we think John is splitting hairs trying to defend the indefenceable. Mybe John is anti Irish rather than pro Saga. We felt we had to write something after an awfull cruise onboard Saga Rubt 18 months, obviously nothing has changed not that it matters to us as we will never sail on any Saga cruise again.

Sorry but my wife & I will have to disagree with this criticism of the Saga Ruby. We had never cruised before until this year when we went to Norway with Saga Ruby. From beginning to end the cruise was brilliant, the food was very good and the ship was excellent. It might be getting on a bit but it was true classic cruising.
