Just back from the costa allegra cruise sailed 26th October 2008. Nothing changed if anything I would say it has got worse. I agree with the " Butlins at Sea" only geared for the Italians and Spanish I felt that I was on a cruise in spain with all the Latin dancing very regimented and done like line dancing. By the second week we felt like throwing ourselves overboard. The ship is very old and past its best. The staff 1st class, the captain and officers and management only spoke to you if you were Italian or spanish very bad image given regarding costa cruises. The drinks soft or spirits very expensive Costa would have more sales on board ship if prices were more reasonable. Entertainment very very bad . Food plenty of it but mostly not very good as the saying goes "same same". I agree the itinary was the saving grace fantastic and also the great people we met on the cruise. But I would never sail with Costa again. The Allegra needs scrapped its so tacky and Costa need to smarten up.

we too went on the Allegra in May to the Far East. Be prepared to pay very very high prices for drinks, be perepared for very very poor entertainment and don't expect the usual fantastic midnight buffets which you normally associate with cruising.
