The Spirit of Adventure is classed as a ship catering for the fitter person - we have sailed on her 4 times and thoroughly enjoyed th experiences offered. If one is looking for a more sedentary pace, there are other ships available. We NEED ships like 'Spirit' to cater for the more active over 40s! I too have been on this superb Turkish Monastery trip - it's not an arduous walk, and is sold as such, but one needs to take care

At 65 I think I will be looking for a more relaxing holiday not hiking up Turkish mountains

We have cruised twice on this ship and found the staff on excursions equipped with basic first aid kits at all times and always showing concern for the wellbeing of their passengers. At the end of a stroll there is always a towel supplied and a sweet or toffee.
If an individual feels the terrain to be unsuitable then it is their decision to abort or turn back. All excursions are fully described indicating the terrain, number of steps or distance req'd prior to chooseing the most suitable option.
The care and consideration thro'out of the staff on this ship makes it our first choice.

Of course, not all the excursions were poor -I was simply commenting on the one I came to grief on, and several other people agreed with me that it was not suitable for people of our age.

This cruiser has slated the excursions, i suspect, because she had an accident. Having sailed twice on the S of A it was felt that all aspects of the cruise were first class. Anyone can suffer an accident but it does not mean the excursions were poor
