A True Queen

Reviewed By: Harris, Mansfield on 3rd Dec 2008
Cruise Line: Cunard Cruises Times cruised before: 3-5
Cruise Ship: Queen Mary 2 Sailed: November, 2008
Destination: Transatlantic Age: 56-65
We have just returned from QM's last transatlantic/">transatlantic crossing of the season. She was majestic and grand. She has just returned from dry dock in Hamburg and she is very well presented for the coming season. We had an inside cabin on Deck 10 and it was more than adequate for a November crossing. We ate in the Britannia Restaurant for most our meals and we were not disappointed by the choice and quality of food offered. cunard-transatlantic/">Cunard have English traditional cruising standards throughout the ship and the overall experience was extremely enjoyable. Both the facilities and activities available on QM2 are excellent, as are all staff. You could be lulled into believing you were travelling with an English company. She is a large ship and she is extremely stable. Discerning cruisers of all ages will be captivated by her charm and elegance. She is a wonderful ship and is well suited to continuing Cunard's magical tradition. Mourn the passing of QE2 by all means but travel on QM2 and realise that the history and tradition have passed to a worthy successor. A true liner with character well able to bear her royal standard.
Quality of Food4
We ate in the Britannia Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and Dinner. The choice offered was good and the food was well prepared and presented. Alternative dining facilities were good in King's Court where you are able to choose from a wider variety in a relaxed atmosphere with more flexible timings.
Entertainment4
Varied and very professional, especially the ship's theatre company. The musicians in various venues around the ship do not disappoint. Dancers will really enjoy the Queen's Room with her magnificent floor.

Staff5
All staff performed their duties at a level that was extremely commendable regardless of task.

Onboard Activities5
A wide choice of activities was available but it was understated and unintrusive. A great library for avid readers. QM2 has plenty of quiet places to enjoy that engaging tome.
Cabins5
Excellent. Well decorated, light and airy. Air conditioning good and easily controlled. Compact with plenty of drawer space. No tea and coffee making facilities a la P&O but complimentary room service available

From learning to dance, learning to paint, workouts in a gym, great spa activities, quizzes at various locations, art auctions, various lectures, competitive games or just settling into a conversation over a coffee you'll have plenty to do whatever your mood, personality or activity level. Everything at your own pace without feeling obliged or badgered into anything. Believe it or not whatever your approach to liesure activities there's enough for all tastes.
