Cruise Reviews

Happy Holiday!

Having read many varied reviews of Ventura, to say we were slightly apprehensive was an unerstatement. My family have cruised for many years and have always experienced high standards on other P&O fleets (Oriana, Arcadia). However, our fears were unfounded and we were delighted to be welcomed onto a fabulous, friendly and well organised ship.
Contrary to some other reports our cabin stewards were attentive, accomodating and very polite. The attention to detail was impressive and on many occasion went above and beyond call of duty.
The decor was clean, modern and met the standard anticipated for a ship 7months of age. The atrium is grand and impressive and made an ideal spot for 'pre dinner', quiet reading time. The staff once again, attentive and ready to take orders within 5 minutes of being seated.
We chose 'Saffron' restauarant and had the most delightful waiters who couldn't do enough for us (regulary plying us with double helpings of desert). We have always had very efficient waiting staff but they really seemed to want to please us and make our holiday as relaxing as possible, 10/10 on all levels. The food was of top quality standard with an abundance of choice to suit every taste and was always served promptly, hot and of good portion size.
Marco Pierrre White's restaurant was delightful (made more special by the fact a) my boyfriend proposed here b) we met the man himself who turned out to be as delightful as his menu! Once again, great selection of food, service impeccable and ambience stylish yet relaxed.
The Gym is well stocked with some hi tech equipment aimed at all ages/levels of fitnes. Martyn runs the 'cruisetone' programme which tailors the requirements from 18-80yr clients. We tried the marathon walk, low impact aerobics and mile walk. He was very helpful and encouraging!
My sister and i had a french manicure (£33 for half an hr) which i thought was quite pricey. I was very impressed with the results and felt it worth the money. My sisters appointment was double booked, she was therefore late and rushed through in 15mins (however, the results were still fantastic!) of which i complained. The following day she was offered a complimentry pedicure which more than apeased.
If i had to suggest an area for improvement they may want to review the 'comedians' who weren't as good as we hoped. having said that, in our second week the standard seemed much better.
Overall, we had a thorughly enjoyable holiday and would defintley book on Ventura again. There is much more to comment upon but i could be here all day!
For anyone thinking of a cruise on this fantastic ship i would highly recommend!

Andrea
