Escape charms again

This was our second cruise on the Escape, the first being in 2003. We enjoyed being on the ship the first time and we were not disappointed the second time. It provides a very acceptable informal cruise with good food and decent entertainment. I would recommend trying the Oasis restaurant at least once because the food is delightful and the service is first rate. Drinks on board are reasonably priced, comparable to a decent pub in England. We were in cabin 8002, which overlooks the front (bow) of the ship. This cabin is slightly bigger than others of the same grade and is worth selecting if available. Check - in was straightforward and our luggage reached the cabin within 30 minutes. I believe that the Escape is being taken over by Thomson Cruises at the end of 2009, or soon after. I hope they retain it's casual atmosphere. We sailked on the Thomson Destiny in April and if we had to compare the two, we would select the Escape.

So pleased you enjoyed Escape, I do agree with your comments, also hope that Thomson keep her informal, know a lot of people do not like this way of cruising but, it does give choice. Perhaps we should all email Thomson's requesting same. Your thoughts? Sally.

Thank you for your comments on the Escape. I have no doubt that Thomson have already formulated their plans for the ship to fit their brand image, which appears to be a bit more formal than the Escape. However, if enough people ask them to retain its inform atmosphere, they may realise that it could be to their advantage to do so. I would be willing to contribute to such a plan. Thomson are a good cruise company at this end of the market and I feel sure that they would be successful with the Escape, especially if they keep the informality. I have enjoyed holidays on the Thonson Spirit and the old Topaz and thoroughly enjoyed them but I was disappointed with the Destiny.
