This was our second cruise on Braemar and the first since she was extended earlier this year. We found Braemar to be even better than before - the extension is perfect and hasn't affected the ambience of the ship whatsoever. We especially liked the new Grampian restaurant - smaller than the Thistle and really comfortable and stylish. The new library is very spacious and relaxing and the internet room is excellent too. We booked a superior outside cabin - by pure coincidence the very same cabin that we had last year - but on the first morning we were able to upgrade to a spacious balcony suite which was fantastic with it's own seperate bedroom and lounge. A balcony will now be a must for us on future cruises - that's for sure! It was so good sailing into a new port early morning sitting on our balcony looking at the fabulous skylines and views as we headed to our berth. We will never forget how wonderful the grand harbour in Malta looked on the morning we arrived. Were there any downsides? - none at all other than Egypt, which although has a totally different culture to our own and good to visit once in a lifetime, will never be on our list again. The pyramids were fantastic and worth the 3hr coach journey from Port Said but what utter filth and chaos everywhere.
Quality of Food
Entertainment
Very good - although both lounges were often congested
Shore Excursions
We only did two which were both very good. But it's often far cheaper and more fun to do your own thing with local taxis when you arrive.
Staff
The restaurant, reception and cabin stewards were all very good and helpful
