Chefs seen jumping overboard!

MSC cruise for £1? I suppose if they offered a 'take-on' service at each port and installed a microwave in each cabin it has to be worth considering! I think if they did we may book again - otherwise I very much doubt it. Such a pity - a fabulous ship, great balcony cabins, excellent cabin stewards, fresh fruit, good conti breakfast in cabin, interesting itineraries, good all-round entertainment - bands/groups good and shows generally excellent (not all to our choice but a good all-round variety), only essential multi-language announcements, tours in Europe expensive but very reasonable and good in Brazil. Understand for language problems why it is difficult to have a comedian, talks, lectures, etc., plenty of good deck space, chairs ....

Has the chef and Food and Beverage Manager really jumped (or where they pushed?) - becausse they should have been! The evening meal was appalling - cold (if very lucky luke warm, service so sloooooooowww and not the waiters fault (ours really did his best) but where were the Management?? We all know they had to change 40% crew to Brazilian (mostly inexperienced) but why did they not have training, its not rocket science to serve and work together - where was the Maitre'd and his assistants? I know we did speak to 3 of them on different evenings expressing our disappiontment in teh service and quality of heat of the food , all promised to get back to us - we never saw any of them again! Why could I not even get a glass or bottle of wine at the table for at least 10 nights (we will not even mention the water!!). Ido not expect to go on a 4* cruise and have to carry in my own wine and water to the table! And at $4.80 per bottle without service or ice (when you could order at the table). In fact, where was the Captain and any of this senior Officers? And when will the Maitre'd say no to shorts on a formal evening - might he suggest he visits the restaurant once in a while! Why is the hot food in the buffet soooo cold when they have cookers behind them and hot plates in front (breakfast and lunch)?
Why is food and beverage such a disgrace on board this lovely ship??

10/10 for honesty. We were on the Posea maiden voyage in April and if you need someone to chuck the chef overboard, look no further. The food was disgusting and cold. The bingo was read out in 6-7 languages, so if you won you had a long wait (not that we played) just onlookers. The price of drinks were abominable, you even had to pay for water.

We sailed on the Musica 6 weeks after its first sailing and it was a beautiful boat but the italian children were allowed to run on the bars, swing from the curtains in the dining room. The entertainment was in Italian and English was the last language spoken on any announcements or not at all. 20 English on board and we didnt see any of them all week to speak to. Would never sail with MSC again.

I have sailed a few times on MSC and have to say I have never seen a show that was in spoken Italian. Any show I have seen contained NON VERBAL entertainment which they have to do to appeal to a multinational range of passengers. The entertainment team (mostly visible on deck during the day) ALWAYS announced in 5 languages in my experience. Now with only 20 Brits on board, would you expect English to be the first announcement? This is an Italian shipping line and naturally, Italian will always be the first language announcement. I can fully understand your annoyance at the behaviour of the children but this is down to the parents. I sailed on a RCI ship from Southampton and I can honestly say the behaviour of the children on that ship was appalling! Children of 10-12 were heckling the commedian in the theatre at 11.45pm (including some heeavy duty swearing!), unescorted British children I may add!!! (Just one example of what they got up to!) I absolutely blame the parents but yes, I do think staff should step in BUT, would you? You might get a consequence you weren't expecting!!! It's a shame that this put you off because I personally think the product is excellent value!

Quite right it is up to the parents, BUT we witnessed the situation when staff did step in and were physically abused and assaulted by these parents!

Unfortunately this is a situation we have to face increasingly. I too have seen staff and other passengers trying speak to very unruly children and they received abuse from the parents (and the children too!!!). This was on an RCI ship which sailed out of Southampton. Unfortunately this type of behaviour and the parental abuse that follows is not restricted to Italian ships. I have also seen this situation on land based holidays so it really can happen anywhere. A visit to any local supermarket will bear me out! All I really want to say is that badly behaved children are not solely on Italianships, and let's face it, it is the parents who are badly behaved really! I believe this to be a problem on all cruise lines too and feel it is a great shame that people are sometmes forced to book holidays on ships which are for adults only or to book land based holidays to hotels which refuse to accept children. I do hope the public and staff who intervened in this case brought criminal charges against the parents concerned. I certainly would!
