Was on same cruise and agree re cabin. I always insist (pre-book) a midships cabin with no facilities near, no bar above, no toilet near, no lift near etc. Our cabin (B deck midships B183) was fine except air conditioning, it was always hot and stuffy - cant win? However, was quiet, clean and ok if rather dated compared with ships from, say Princess Cruises,
Staff were all great and we enjoyed cruise, but entertainment ! Worst I have encountered. Only one good male singer, rest of the entertainment was not worth stopping up to see. But there, I cant stand jugglers or old and loud tribute acts (who were well past their sell by date) ! Not much happened on deck at night. Would have been nice, some nights, for some entertainment on deck, live singers etc. Once a week they do the "Moon" show, but thats all and that is a bit out dated now I think.
Food was good. We have actually done 12 cruises, five previously with Ocean Village, and we have always enjoyed ourselves but the ship is now looking a bit dated although clean and acceptable.
We did the 14 night cruise and have no real complaints. Hint - Dont bother going round the town in St Lucia, its a dump. Rest of the islands are fine. Best trip was to Virgin Gorda Baths - Paradise !

Doesn't matter what cabin you are in these noises are audible throughout the ship and is just either the ship being maneouvered into port or the anchor being prepared to be put down and it is only for a short time, get real.

Reality is that in cabin E101 being the last room above the engine the audible noise started at 6.00 a.m. and did not end until 8.00 a.m. and upon commenting to the Manager her first comments were "I totalling understand" and has given us a letter for complaint. But do feel free to book cabin E101 because like the TV programme hopefully you will get flushed in it.

I actually was in E131 from 4th to 26th November this year and we got noise at those times too, so do know what you mean and have had experience on over 10 cruises. I do feel that OV2 is better than most ships where noise is concerned, but let's agree to differ.

Its a small world, we were on the same cruise and probably the same flight home. At least you knew how bad the noise was. We were the young ladies who stomped past your door in the early hours of the morning. Hope you enjoyed your cruise. Needless to say we will still be booking another cruise with OV as it proved to be very good value for money.

Yes, we enjoyed cruise very much and it was very good value. No wonder you did not like the noise at 6 am in the morning if you were clubbing it on Deck 14 to the early hours every night. Just a thought though, engines are in the back of the ship and not at the pointy end where your cabin was. What you heard were the thrusters which enable the ship to manoeuver and dock sideways and these are at the bow (front pointy end) and at the stern (rear round end) so unavoidable in disrupting your much needed sleep I suppose. You should have been up on deck watching the wonderful view from the ship while sailing past and docking into exotic Caribbean places as we were at that time. You would not have noticed the noise then. You'll have to hurry and book another trip as OV2 goes to Australia next year. Shame!

Twice you have referred to OV 2 in your comments. Hate to tell you but the review is of OV 1.

10/10 for observation and accept my apology. My comments, however, still apply as cabin 101 is the last cabin on Deck 6 on both ships their layouts being very similar and I have been on both. Both cabins are as far as possible from the engines, being situated in the bow and the noise is still from the bow thrusters and not the engines as Sinclair of Welling stated. I guess that midships are the quietest cabins on both ships but we did not have any problem with the small amount of noise that was experienced for no more than 30 to 60 minutes while coming into port and this was all I was initially trying to say and was not looking to get into deep discussion about this issue. It was just a personal observation and everybody has different experiences, but thank you for your contribution to the discussion and I hold my hands up to the error.
