Once is enough

Destination: Mediterranean Age: 46-55
I have done a number of cruises, however we sailed on this vessel because it was the next size up. (I mean by tonnage)
It may not have been the idea time to travel, because I had caught a tummy bug three week prior and I was not 100%, but under doctors advice, I followed instructions and continued with my vacation. I found the cabins to be of a very good size, with enough starage space for 4 people. We tried all the restaurants, however my favourite one was James Martin's Bistro. The service and food was excellent, even for someone who had a dicky stomach. We did all shore excursions independantly as we found them too expensive to purchase on board. Some of the places were worth the visit like Dubrovnic, Katakolon, Athens, Cyprus, Rhodes, Turkey to name a few. Didn't think too much of the entertainment, one week the comedian was funny, the next week another person was rubbish. The shows were average and to be honest the things I enjoyed the most were the films that were shown in the staterooms, there was a lot of variety and some were very good. On a whole I found the vacation OK, it was for 14 nights, which I felt could have been 10 nights instead. If you ask me would I sail with them again, NO, once is enough.
Quality of Food2
We ate in all four restaurants. I ate more carbohydrates, as my stomach was not 100%
Entertainment2
The least enjoyable show was the comedian on the second week, very dry. The shows were average, not very spectacular.
Shore Excursions2
As we travelled independently, I enjoyed the exersions which we did. Dubrovnic, Olympia, Athens. Not so keen on Mykonos or Santorini, found these too places very expensive and a let down to end the cruise.
Staff2
I liked a young Indian girl who was on reception called Michelle. She was very polite, very helpful, very friendly and a joy to see every day. Nothing was too much bother to her and personally she made the holiday for me. I did not find the staff very friendly and I felt this came down from the top, because the captain was very cold.
Children's Facilities2
The children were not interedted in using these facilities for the first week. However they made quite a few friends and by doing this, this gave us the flexibility and freedom to go and have dinner whenever necessary.
Onboard Activities2
There were plenty of activties, but some were boring.
Cabins2
The cabins were very spacious and I liked the size and the way our cabin steward Clive kept it clean and nothing was too much bother to him.
