Cruise Line: MSC Cruises Times cruised before: 6-10
Cruise Ship: MSC Musica Sailed: November, 2008
Destination: South America Age: 46-55
I think I must be on some alternativel universe to all these ones who write bad reviews about msc, my experience on the musica to south america was excellent. I was noticable that there was a strong presence of cruise complainers on board (mostly uk)who could not be satisfied and who went on and on and on about having to buy bottled water..the british spend millions a year on bottled water from the local supermarkets but when they got on a ship they are so full of righteous indignation ....did not hear a peep about when we saw children sleeping on the streets of recife..I am sure those children would have loved to enjoy one of the 48 lunchtime buffet dishes, or the the 32 dishes for breakfast

as for embarkation very smooth ...what was a hoot was seeing those who had gone for express check-in still standing as we walked up the gangway..cabin was kept clean as was the rest of the ship, the shows were superb, nice touches was the bowl of fruit , very little demos doh I mean sales pitches and no art auctions. Cocktail of the day was 5.50 dollars

so if you want a mercedes benz cruise liner there are many available at mercedes prices yar where everything is just so, if you like the cadillac soft insulted world with the artificial sweetner "have a nice day" ..but if you like alfa romeo with things done differently and yes sometimes not always perfect by hey ho its all part of the fun then you will like msc..I did and I would certainly go with them again

My partner and i have just returned from this cruise which was our second cruise with MSC and i totally agree with your comments, you get what you pay for and we were more than happy, deck 11 lovely cabin woke up to the sun on the balcony every morning, prestine clean and our cabin steward was very attentive. Heard lots of grumbling from the older uk generation, MSC is Italian so if you want steak and kidney pud for lunch go with P&O and be prepared to pay their prices. We had a lovely time reallygood value for money and by the way most of the cost of the holiday goes to the airlines, MSC gets about £30.00 per day per person need i say more. We will use MSC again so Bonne Voyage! Italian style.

You must have been on a different cruise to us or maybe you are shareholders with MSC. worse cruise have ever been on food cold staff rude. We are not hard to please or moaners or snobs but we went to a holiday camp recently for a long weekend and can say that food and entertainment were far superior to the Musica.

We as people like to be treated with respect, doesn't matter what you pay for a cruise. We did not appreciate being dropped off in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday morning with poor people sleeping in the streets, and as you well know some passengers were threatened with physical violence and robbed and as you say you must be on another universe!!! There were only 30 English people on board and think you will find at least 80% of the passengers were not happy. ALL nationalities. We save hard all year for our holidays and we were not shouting and moaning like most non Brits. We were ALL VERY lucky not to have gone down with food poisoning as 95% of the food WAS COLD OR LUKE WARM maybe you were one of the few who got their own way because they were so rude to the staff and other passengers!!!! It was not a pleasant experience. Our Australian cabin neighbour cut her tongue on glass in her food and was accused of putting it there herself! The laundry managed to 'lose' two very good shirts of my husbands and shrink the rest and we certainly hope that we never have the pleasure of sailing with people like you again, you just have to read how condecending you are in your write up!!

for a fact there were more that 30 from uk on board...our bus from the airport was full and that excludes people making their own way and no I did not get my food hot because I was rude...in fact I lent over backwards to be nice to the crew who were very good. Never heard a complaint from any brazillian and yes I do speak portuguese just the english mostly..got so tired of hearing the english moaning I moved to speak to someone else Perhaps you may consider that Royal Caribean are doing a similar trip in a few days to Brazil..when you add up the fuel surcharges (none on msc) and no airfares I find in my own case that doing this same trip with RC would cost double what I paid MSC..even if I did have to buy bottled water

We have sailed with RCI three times, Princess too and I can assure you will certainly do so again! They, when you add up extras etc cost of drinks, excellent service and good manners from ALL staff not just the odd few they are good value. They go out of their way to make your holiday the nice enjoyable experience it should be, even though you feel it is 'false' I feel it make a person feel good to be treated with respect not like something you have trodden in. I was certainly never rude to ANY staff. You come back feeling happy not that you have been put through hell and back and even though you have been away for three weeks feel you need to get away again to get over it. Maybe we should agree to differ on this matter?

The Brazilian table next to us were complaining so much more than we were about food/service. Also spoke to several Austrian/Germany/French also complaining about the food/service! Think you must have been very lucky. We also very nice to our waitor and he did his best but the food was still cold and mostly poor quality - except for the superb meal on last Monday night - lobster, duck and filet and it was HOT!!!! Do believe major problems in Galley - Maitre'd did admit this! Understand 200 best waiters sent to Fantasia for the maiden voyage!
