We have just retuned from a Caribbean cruise on Sea Princess. There is not one bad thing we can say about Princess. They certainly know how to look after their passengers. We flew out on a Thomas Cook flight full of cruise passengers. We checked our cases in at Gatwick and never saw them again until they arrived in our cabin. We all got off the plane in Barbados and got straight into coaches taking us to the ship. How well organized is that. Our balcony cabin was clean with ample storage space. The steward as with all the crew were friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was paramount on the ship. Hand gel was on use outside all the restaurants with staff encouraging people to use it. Of course you always get the odd ones who refuse it, like the passengers who use the toilet without washing their hands. Shameful! I was up at 6.00 one morning to see the sunrise. There were the deck crew scrubbing the sunbeds and the decks with a stiff broom and a hose. The food was delicious with plenty of choices for all tastes. We were anytime dining as we like to be flexible on holiday. We shared a table most evenings as it is nice to chat with other passengers. Always the subject of cruising comes up, there were never any bad words said about Princess, but odd niggles about other cruise lines. We saw two shows most nights, some of the entertainment was just \'OK\'. The crew work very hard on their performances and are a great bunch. We arranged our own tours before we left UK as the ships are a bit pricey. This was our second cruise with Princess, our first was on the Diamond Princess to Alaska. Having enjoyed both so very much, we have already booked another.

Question by Price, Newquay (19 Mar 10 14:29) about this REVIEW
Hi, thank you for your review it sounds great! We are going next month for our honeymoon and would just like to ask a couple of questions. Did you fly from gatwick and if so is there a separate Princess Cruises check in desk? How much did you pay on the ship for tips and are they compulsery? Finally, what was the price of drinks like?
Answer by dennis, portsmouth (23 Mar 10 16:31) to a QUESTION by Price (19 Mar 10 14:29)
Gatwick did have it's own check in desk. It was at the end so just make sure you walk past the long Thomas Cook queue. You are not pushing in , honest! We did get there early as wanted to make sure we sat together. Tipping is not compulsory and you can ask at the Pursres desk for it to be removed. A bottle of wine cost me 22 dollars, sounds alot but it did last me 3 nights. They will keep it for you. cocktails were 6.75 dollars. They do add 15% to all drinks. Shhhh - I did sneak a bottle of whisky in our suitcase. Nice for the balcony in the evenings! Have a fantastic honeymoon. Look on Tripadvisor website for day tours. You must do snorkel with Woodwind.

CHECK-IN: I've flown from Manchester and Gatwick and at both airports there were check-in desks that had the PRINCESS CRUISES logo above - very easy to spot. As for TIPS: It is $10.50 per person, per day, which can be pricey if you have not budgeted for it. They are not compulsory and you can remove them if you so wish. As for drinks, they were reasonable in 2008 but as I'm sailing a week today, and I've heard lots of comments about the price hike, I'm not looking forward to that!!!
Question by Smith, Harborough (18 Mar 10 15:14) about this REVIEW
It sounds as if you had a fantastic time. We are going next week, and really looking forward to it. Our only worry is about hand luggage. Having measured our normal handluggage cases, we realise they are far too big. We too fly from Gatwick on Thomas Cook, and wondered how strict they were on size. Could you also give us some ideas of the tours you organised, as we would love to hear about them. Thanks again for taking the time to do your review.

we bought some new hand luggage because our case was about 2cm too big and i didnt want to risk it.....however most of the people we saw in the airport had the normal standard hand luggage all bigger than mine!..The only bad thing about these cruises is that you cannot pick your air carrier, Thomson are so much better with more room than Thomas Cook our return flight with TC 2 weeks ago was a nightmare, never been so cramped on long haul. Apart from that you will have fab time.
