We joined the Sea Princess in Barbados on 20 February after an eventless flight from Gatwick with Thomas Cook airline. We upgraded our seats, only seven seats across the cabin instead of nine with more legroom, well worth the extra.

On arrival we were taken to the cruise terminal in George Town by bus and very quickly through the embarkation procedure and onto the ship.

We were greeted by our cabin steward, Ronaldo who explained about meal times etc. We asked for two wine glasses for the wine we brought on board and bathrobes, he delivered these to our cabin within ten minutes.

We had a balcony cabin on deck 11 not far from the aft lifts. The cabin and balcony are not as large as either, Royal Caribbean or Celebrity, but more than adequate.

The boat drill was held in the Vista Lounge, no standing about on deck on Princess.

We had cabin service, pre breakfast on our balcony in the mornings, usually, fruit juice, fruit, yoghurt and coffee, then a light buffet breakfast in the Horizon Court.

We normally had a buffet lunch in the Horizon Court but on several other occasions we had a waiter service lunch in the Café Corniche, this serves light Italian style meals and pizzas.

We were able to get seats outside for all our Horizon Court meals.

We had all our evening meals in the Traviata restaurant; we were on the late sitting 8:30 on a table of eight. All our fellow diners were extremely good company and greatly added to our cruise experience. Just a quick note here, there were four formal nights and not the three mentioned on our joining instruction.

Our favourite bar for a pre dinner drink was the Wheelhouse bar, this is a well furnished comfortable bar normally with a pianist playing discretely in the background after diner there was a duo who played a good selection of well-known music.

The evening entertainment was some and some. The Princess dancers and singers work extremely hard, neither the guest singer, comedian nor illusionist were to our taste, but I know they were very popular with other cruisers. The cruise director Billy London, was also not to my taste, again popular with others.

We went on two organised tours, to see the banana plantation, with bamboo raft trip down the river in Jamaica and the forest canopy gondola trip in Dominica. Both these were quite expensive but well worthwhile. In the other ports we either took a taxi or just stayed in the town.

Disembarkation was as easy as embarkation, we remained on the ship until 4pm straight to the airport a couple of hours there and a good flight back to Gatwick.

All in all, a very good cruise, on an excellent ship, exceptional helpful crew, and a really good itinerary.

Cruise dancers and singers worked very hard, with rather dated material

The service from all the staff was excellent.

We are on this cruise in April. Were the bathrobes complimentary and did you have any problems taking wine onboard? Sounds like you enjoyed it! Looking forward to ours now.

Hello Bathrobes complimentary. No problem taking wine on board. Picked up 2 bottles at duty free!!! at Gatwick £7.49 ish then looked at other parts on the way round good price between $8 to $10. Just put through scanner never stopped. Some passengers had spirits stored for them until end of cruise. Hope you have a great time.
