Alaskan Cruisetour - Sapphire Princess

Reviewed By: on
We decided to look at Alaska in style and booked a 13 day cruisetour via Kevan Mitchell who specialises in Alaska Cruises and Cruisetours for Cruise Experts Travel Ltd of Vancouver (www.alaskacruiseexperts.com) - I have to say that the service, care and attention we received from him was fantastic. We flew to Fairbanks and had 5 days on land on various day trips viewing the wildlife and were lucky enough to see grizzly bears, moose and caribou. The coach drivers were very efficient and knowledgeable. We joined the Sapphire Princess after a further 2 day train trip through Alaska to Whittier. The ship was fantastic, we had paid for a ‘PH’ cabin on Cruise #9S which is only available via Canadian and American travel agents. The service and food on board the train and the ship was excellent. The highlight of the trip was Glacier Bay, we stayed on our balcony all day watching the glaciers ‘calving’, it was incredibly peaceful and the scenery was unbelievable. Having previously watched a number of episodes of Deadliest Catch we tried the spider crab during one of the great meals in the restaurant, I can now see what all the fuss is about ! The entertainment was wide and varied and watching some of the American cruisers on Mr and Mrs was very funny. We had never sailed with Princess before but would certainly recommend them as a company. The quality of the food, service and organisation of embarking/disembarking was extremely efficient. During this holiday (we also had 8 days on the Rocky Mountaineer) we took nearly 4000 photographs and the memories will last a lifetime.
