I have just returned from a two week cruise with my wife and three children ( 16, 14 and 11) and my sister and her husband. We departed from and returned to Southhampton, which makes it much easier to get on and off the cruise than having to fly to a European port. Overall the cruise was enjoyable. The ports of call were well varied. We had a party of seven, so we opted for fixed dining and we received excellent service. The quality of food for such a large boat was quite good. I have a few suggestions for areas of improvements. There are no dedicated kids area's for the older children , ie like a youth disco area. Given the boat has a number of Dicos that are hardly ever used, ie Skywalkers , it would be good to have one of these areas dediated to the kids. A small item though frustrating was that you could not charge tokens for the video arcades to the kids cards, you had to buy USD , using your cash or credit card and then convet them to quarters for the machines. We seem to have overtaken the Germans in laying out towels on deck chairs. Towels appeared on deck chairs from 7am , though the chairs were not populated until past 10 or when the sun came out. The enforcement policy of moving towells was not enforced by the crew. Spending two days sailing back from Gibraltor to Southampton can be quite boring , especially if the weather is poor. Adding another port , like Portugal etc could break up the two days.
