Princess Cruises - Golden Princess
Golden Princess
A Grand class cruise ship, the Golden Princess was launched in 2001 and has two sister: the Grand Princess and the Star Princess. The three vessels were designed to be understated and sophisticated, as well as fun and exciting, and they offer plenty of amenities for passengers of all ages and personal preferences.
In 2009, the Golden Princess underwent a substantial dry dock refurbishment project to update its decor and add some new features. This was successfully completed and the ship now includes a number of venues that are found on newer vessels in the Princess Cruises fleet.
Typically, the Golden Princess can be found in the waters around the west coast of America. It regularly sails on Alaskan cruises, stopping at ports of call like Seattle, Victoria, Juneau and Glacier Bay. Other popular destinations include San Francisco, Hawaii and Los Angeles. Being a non-Panamax vessel, it rarely travels to the other side of the US.

Food, cuisine and dining
There are a number of restaurants to choose from on the Golden Princess and with Anytime Dining, you needn't worry about fixed meal times. Instead, you can choose to eat when and where you want. Of course, if you prefer a more traditional dining experience, then that's available too.
There are three main dining rooms, called the Canaletto, Donatello and Bernini. All are comfortable and elegantly decorated, offering mouth-watering fare throughout the day.
If you fancy a sweet treat, then the Sundaes ice cream bar is the place to go. It offers a huge range of delicious toppings to choose from, so you can make the perfect snack. Afternoon tea is also available every day and the Prego Pizzeria pizza bar is another popular option.
Other dining options include: • International Cafe • Vines • Trident Grill • Horizon Court • Sabatini's • Crown Grill
For those who want to eat in the privacy of their own cabin, then room service is available 24 hours a day. Or you can opt for Ultimate Balcony dining, where your meal is served course-by-course to your private veranda.
On-board entertainment and activities
The massive Princess Theatre is a two-deck venue that plays host to shows, lectures, concerts and comedy performances throughout every voyage. Of course, if you prefer something a bit more intimate, many of the vessel's bars and lounges offer live music and dancing, especially in the evenings.
Other options include a large casino, a fabulous kids' club and a number of traditional cruise activities like bingo, karaoke and quizzes. And if you enjoy dancing late into the night, then head to the Skywalkers disco.
Spas and fitness facilities
For the ultimate in relaxation, a trip to the Lotus spa and beauty salon is a must. This is an Asian-inspired venue that offers a number of indulgent treatments, as well as tranquil surroundings.
Those who prefer to unwind with some exercise will find the on-board gym is a well-equipped facility, with cardio and resistance machines and a studio where classes are held.
Of course, elsewhere on the ship, you can also find options like a swimming pool, jogging track and ping-pong. There's also the adults-only Sanctuary for relaxation, as well as plenty of sunbeds and hot tubs.
Cabins
Whether you're seeking low-cost cruise deals or some of the most plush accommodation possible, the Golden Princess is sure to have a cabin that will suit your requirements and budget.
The 1,312 rooms are split into six different categories and 35 price ranges. The cost of a specific stateroom will depend on the size of the space, its location on the ship and whether or not it has a view or a balcony. The more luxurious rooms also include additional amenities and services.
