OVERVIEW: The ship is a grand resort. Princess Cruises delivers a consistent, well-packaged vacation at an attractive price. If you’re not used to large ships, it’ll take you some time to find your way around this one, despite the company’s claim that it offers a ‘small ship feel, big ship choice.’

This cruise presented an opportunity to combine visits to the eastern seaboard of USA and Canada with an after cruise holiday in New York . The terminal is off the beaten track and a taxi seems the best bet. Boarding such a large ship can take a long time but we took only about 45minutes at the terminal because of the well co-ordinated large number of staff. The mini-suite was spacious, well equipped and the bathroom had an adequate sized bath for an XL man. Cabin service was up to scratch while the waiter and drinks service was always prompt and attentive.
We chose the open dining option to allow the maximum time to make our own arrangments during visits rather than take cruise tours. No problems with this either with leaving/reboarding or in port where visits were easily made.Wonderful historic/scenic tour opportunities ar below ship tour prices usually ajacent to landings. However, it appears that the theatre rapidly fill up and one needs to be seated well before the show, which does not fit well with open dining. Entertainment in the bars was varied and of a good standard.Plenty of general seating for reading and a good library but internet service seemed limited and very expensive compared with on shore. The open air cinema might be fine in the Caribbean but not of much use in a North American autumn and was seemigly not patronised .
Food was very good, specially restaurants genenerally good value but the italian menu showed a creme brulee which turned out to be weak custard with no topping of glazed sugar. The maitre d' did not understand "Brulee"which made a poor impression on Cordon Bleu wife! The self service buffet was sometimes crowded for breakfast and lunch but restaurant service for these was always fast and more relaxed when used.Wines and general drink prices were resonably priced. Formal evenings resulted in about a 50/50 mix between Tux and suits for men, women as usual dressed up. Overall, a most enjoyable cruise and very good value.
