As a single lady this holiday was a big step into the unknown for me: having never before taken a holiday on my own or been on a river cruise.
But once stepping onto The Mozart all uncertainties disappeared and I experienced the most fabulous holiday.
I soon found that I was not the only single lady on board, so I had the choice of the company of some very interesting ladies.
Infact all fellow passangers were very friendly and welcoming; especially when I asked to join them at meal tables and on trips there was always someone to talk to and share the experience with.
Anyone would find it difficult to put into words the wonderful food that was served at all the meals; we were treated to tasting typical foods of the countries we were visiting and the most sumptuous evening meals that you can imagine, some having seven courses. All served by friendly staff, who appeared to genuinely enjoy their job.
I was lucky to have an outside cabin which was well fitted out with plenty of storage space and an awesome view of the River Danube gushing by past just below my window.
The ship generally cruised during the night, so that the days could be spent sight seeing. On stopping at each new destination, we were treated to a trip around the sights of that town/city, listening to the history and seeing all the wonderful buildings, monuments and people. All the excursions were lead by very knowledgable and experienced tour guides.
In the time spent on board and not sitting eating meals, there was a very comfortable lounge/bar where you could help yourself to coffee or tea or purchase something stronger, you could also help yourself from the big bowl of fresh fruit. There was also a sun deck, library, swimming pool and mini gym.
During the evenings we were treated to some excellent entertainment; if not the ship's resident band, there were visiting acts from the country we were visiting. All of which were extremely talented and professional.
Reading this, I think everyone can tell that I found this holiday to be a fatastic experience and that I had wondeful time.
I would definitely recommend anyone who is on their own and uncertain about holidaying alone to try river cruising. The ships are small and friendly having only a couple of hundred passangers and being on a river it is extremely smooth.
