We booked the cruise in June 2009 and then spent several months wondering weather to cancel/change the booking after reading many reviews on this site. We are both very glad we didnt. Having cruised with Carnival twice be i would say the Ventura was as good if not better than our previous cruises.

With regards to several of the previous reviews we read,We saw no sign of loutish behaviour. There were no issue's with unrulley children or rude staff. Sun loungers are plentifull on port days but can become a bit cramped and hard to come by on sea days.

We opted for an inside cabin as you only need somewhere you sleep after the long days lazing in the sun or exploring the many islands we visited. Jorgy our cabin steward was excellent. Our cabin was always spotless and he was very friendly and polite.

The food in both the buffets and dinning rooms was very good and always plentiful, We had the 2nd seating in the bay tree resturant. We were assigned a table of 8. We were very fortunate that the 6 other diners on our table were a family from Sheffield who mad us feel very welcome. There was a different themed menu in the buffet/diners every night, Although we only tried this once as the food and service in the Bay tree were excelent we dined there on 12 of the 14 nights. On our penultimate night our waiter Yogesh ( Who was excellent ) gave us all the menu's from the previous nights as a keepsake.

The drinks prices are very reasonable and there is an extensive range on offer, My wife enjoyed and took full advantage of the cocktail of the day offer.

We booked 4 P&O excursions which although slightly pricey were very well organised and enjoyable. I would thoroughly recomend the zip lining in St Lucia. In Antigua and St Kitts we hired local taxis to take us on island tours which cost $20 each.

Overall a very good cruise with the staff and ship being a credit to P&O. For those considering booking with P&O give it a go as i sid " Nothin Ventura'd Nothing Gained "

Very surprised at P&O putting a couple on a table for 8 with a family 6. Obviously worked out OK, but could have been awkward. We once shared a table for 8 with a family of four and one other couple, and the family just kept to themselves and did not socialise with the others.
