My wife and I have just returned from a 12 night cruise to the Baltic on P & O's Oriana. We have cruised quite a lot in the last 2 years including Celebrity, Princess, Fred Olsen and Transoceanic's Marco Polo but Oriana beat them all!

Our inside cabin on deck 5 was quiet and very well equipped, we did appreciate the tea and coffee - very welcome after a day's excursion in port. Our in-cabin entertainment was excellent too, there were 13 channels on the flat screen tv including 3 free film channels, BBC and SKY news and lots of onboard information about excursions etc.

The buffet breakfast on deck 12 was (as usual) a bit of a bunfight but there was a very good variety of food served to suit all diets. The formal restaurants are beautifully laid out, the food was superb and the service was the best we have experienced. There are 2 alternative fine dining options on board; the Terrace Grill and the Gary Rhodes restaurant, both offer an even higher standard than the main restaurant and are not overpriced.

Having cruised on 3 american ships and paid the exorbitant prices they charge for beers and wines it was a
relief to find Oriana charging modest pub prices throughout the restaurants and bars and NO SURCHARGE.

There were good variety shows on every night in the 750 seat theatre and in addition a very nice cinema showing the latest releases again free of charge.

We did 3 excursions and found them to be good value, in addition the port lectures were very helpful coupled with the superb information pack sent to us 3 weeks prior to sailing.

All in all we can heartily recommend P & O and we look forward to sailing with them again.

Agree completely, except that I'd give Oriana 10 stars - but the theatre entertainment was disappointing, with glorious exception of Mike Doyle. Great weather, wonderful ports-of-call. Best surprise: Stockholm. Can't wait to go back for short break. Best excursion: the St. Petersburg marathon to Catherine and Peterhof palaces and gardens in one day. Worth getting up at 5 a.m. for.
