We tried our first cruise, on Ocean Village 2 in the western Med in 2008 as something as an experiment. I went with an open mind to see if a holiday at sea was, everything my friends kept telling me was true. Well it was, and more besides.
As soon as we returned, all the many cruise line brochures piled up at home, and a process of elimination to find our 2nd cruise began. After looking at reviews and destinations of the many ships to choose from, Oceana cruise E003 came top of the list.
After a few misgivings, , over formal nights and a perception of stuffiness. I booked.
I should not of worried. The atmosphere and ambiance of my fellow passengers and crew was something I have never experienced on any holiday.
We chose freedom dining to give us flexibility. For us it worked brilliantly, as we met some lovely people.
I thought the food and service was outstanding. What a pity you very rarely get the same back in the UK.
I must say a special thanks to Captain Hamish Reid for is very funny tannoy announcements and the way he took time to
shake all the passengers hands as we disembarked.
Perhaps the excursions are too expensive, and some of the entertainment is a little dated, but in the grand scheme of things
these are minor details
Well done P&O cruise ship Oceana and crew.
