Although we have cruised many times before, this was our first cruise with P & O. We found the Oceana a most pleasant experience. The ship has most of the attractions that larger ships have but with just under 2,000 passengers it has a very enjoyable atmosphere and there is opportunity to get to know other passengers as you move around the ship. We found many passengers who repeatedly travel on the Oceana or other P & O ships - they seem to feel safe with this British line. The food in the Liguina restaurant was excellent - much appreciated the Freedom dining.
The staff everywhere were very pleasant and helpful and the shows by the Theatre Company were excellent. The ship is an older ship and the cabins therefore are adequate but quite small as is the balcony. Smoking is allowed on the balcony which does mean that you can be next door to someone whose smoke permeates your cabin. The bathroom is extremely small
particularly compared to the newe ships. The shops on the ship are somewhat disappointing, they seem to stock many sweets and small items for children to purchase but nothing pertaining to the ports we visited or any quality souvenirs, However the cost of services and bar prices were the best we have ever experienced - there was no added percent and the suggested tips seemed realistic and fair. Although we would appreciate larger cabins we would nevertheless be happy to sail again on Oceana.

Headliners Theatre Company - several shows

Shore Excursions
Enjoyed Florence- found the Rome tour the least enjoyable - too much information for the speed we travelled - we had often passed by and were on to the next monument.

Staff
All staff were helpful, bar staff were chatty, cabin stewards always there when needed, waiters concerned you enjoyed the food.

Onboard Activities
We particularly enjoyed the talks given by the retired customs officer
4

Cabins
We realised they would be small - but the shower was extremely cramped. The balcony was a design reminiscent of a 60s style A second easy chair would have been appreciated and of course newe ships have flat screen TVs.
