On June 23 2013 my wife and I cruised on P and O Oceana to Norway. This was our fourth cruise, but this is my first review. We had originally booked this cruise as it included Flam.We wanted to travell on the railway.Sadly P and O swapped Flam for Olden, where we had been before, and were not impressed. We treated ourselves to a night at the Grand Harbour Hotel, which P and O continue to advertise as De Vere,it has not been owned by De Vere for a few years. The hotel is pricey but was comfortable and the breakfast was it has to said superb.Because of the close proximity of the hotel to the port we arrived very early to book in.As usual the staff who greeted us, and took away my car,are to be complimented on their efficiency and friendliness.Because we so early we were given red A cards, and apart from privalage boarding we were first to be called. We were on board and in the buffet before midday. Our cabin, sorry state room, was ready by 14.00 hours, brilliant service. We had a balcony cabin B717,which it has to said,we found that when we were unpacking we tended to bump into each other through lack of space.I hasten to add it was adequate and spotlessly clean.Shortly after we gained access to the cabin our steward visited us.It was quite a suprise when he addressed us as Rodger and Janet. Not a complaint just a little odd. Then the first of many chuckles as our Italian Captain came on the tannoy to tell us,in broken English,it was time for safety practice. He amused us all week. Our first impressions of the ship were that it very welcoming and people were allways cleaning and tydying. We had second sitting formal dining on a table for ight people. Two never showed but this did not have any effect as the six of us seemed to gel quite well. Our two waiter served our needs very well. The food was good without being exceptional. The only complaint is that the presentation was lacking compared to Ventura and Azura. For Breakfast and lunch we tended to visit Le Jardin. The service here is exceptional and far more conviviable than the hustle and bustle of the buffet. The only shows we saw were the Beatles tribute and the comedian. Both these shows were reasonaly good,no more. Was there a big problem on the cruise. You bet there was.A near riot erupted when the crew messed up so much with the tendering to Olden. Some people had to wait over two hours. The queues at the reception desk in the evening were huge.Stavanger is a pleasent clean small town.Olden in my opinion is pointless.Eidfjord is an impressive journey but a dissapointment on arrival.Kristiansand is like any other town in any country.Leaving the ship and picking up our car was just like a mirror image of getting on,brilliant.Would we travell on Oceana again,of course.

We too were booked on this, but when P O quietly slipped in Olden(beautiful but boring) for Flam we switched to May 31 and had a fabulous time on Oceana. We did a good excursion in Eidfjord, we like Stavanger and Kristiansand was nice. We were glad to avoid Bergen, a lovely place, but have been there so many times.

Sorry to hear you were not impressed with Olden - it's one of our favourite places in Norway, along with Eidfjord. Olden has two beautiful churches to visit on a beautiful walk by meadows, and then a lake. Eidfjord is absolutely beautiful - photos to be snapped everywhere. I cannot believe you see it as a "disappointment"! And Kristiansand is also lovely. I do hope others reading your review will not be put off going to these remarkable and pretty places.
