P&O HIT AND MISS

Reviewed By: on
It was my first P&O cruise and my first to the Fjords so was really looking forward to it so I was a little disappointed. I have cruised many times before and with lots of cruise lines.
First the good points, very nice cabin on B deck, balcony not overlooked, but would not have botherd me anyway. Cabin well cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding if needed. Tea making facilities topped up twice a day. Good night time shows, Mark Walker and Damon Scott were very good.
Ports of call good and as we had fantastic weather we tried to made the most of them. Andalsnes was upsetting because P&O brought up all the tickets for the railway so we couldn't buy a ticket direct, P&O charged £63.50 for a £10 ticket, shame on them! you can buy online before you go, the station is just across the road from the ship. When in this port we could not get a bus, taxi or train as their was none.
We had our meals in the Oriental Restaurant, this was very good and the staff fab. The buffet was a different story long queues, dirty tables, kept running out of cups and plates! No direction from the Maitre'D, no stand out staff at all. We didn't know who was in charge. The ship was full but only ever one or two sides of the buffet open. The signage to Oriental was very poor and it was hard to find, people were still getting lost on the last day as you could not get to it from all floors.
The Captain mocked Thomson Cruises on his first day speech but I think that he needs to do one as they are much better. Most people that we spoke to had done one and said that they were much more fun and friendly. Don't know if I would do one again maybe if I got a good deal.
