Cruise Ship: Azura Sailed: February, 2012
Destination: Caribbean Age: 56-65
Cabin: Balcony Occasion: Annual/regular holiday
Flew from edinburgh with Thomson, premium seats, good legroom, reasonable meals, with wine, spirts etc. Did not see luggage until it arrived in cabin soon after we boarded. Originally booked a balcony on Cdeck(because of the large balconys)but got upgraded to A deck, balcony was small but not overlooked. Cabin was clean and comfortable with the usual tea/coffee making facilities. Well looked after by our cabin girl. Felt that lifeboat drill was more intense this time, staff made sure we knew how to put our jackets on and that they were on properly.
We were on Freedom dining, which is new for us, suited us well, always shared a table and had some good companions. One disadvantage is that you do not get to know your waiters. Service was good as always. Good choice, hot plates when needed, never had any problems. Used both mdr and selfserve for breakfast. self serve could be a bit of a bunfight, but the food again was good. Enjoyed the hot pudding of the day! Had one dinner in the Italian which was excellent, did not manage to get there again. Also Sindhu which was fabulous. Did not get into 17 or try the glasshouse.
Headliners were very energetic, There was some great muscians around the ship especially the Link in Brodies. Enjoyed the talk on drugs even though we had heard it before.
Did a couple of trips which though were not cheap, we enjoyed
Cannot think of any negative things to say, but we do go on holiday to enjoy ourselves and not to find fault unless there is something major wrong. Weather was just perfect. We enjoyed all the islands, there was something different in all of them.
Quality of Food5
Meridian for freedom dining, self serve/mdr for breakfast self serve for lunch. Fabulous meal in Sindhu also excellent meal in Italian. All the meals were very good
Entertainment5
Headliners were very energetic. Rudi West comedian was superb. Fogwell Flax alright. The Link in Brodies first class. All the other musical group were some of the best we have seen on a cruise.
Shore Excursions4
gardens and dunns fall in jamaca, enjoyed the trip. Shirley heights and Nelsons dockyard in Antiega, interesting. Other islands we just walked about ourselves. Dominica had beautiful gardens which were a short walk away from the ship, free entry. Grand Turk was a beach stop, the sunbathers from round the pool just moved to the sand and sea. Loved Bonaire and Aruba
Staff5
All the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. We had an issue with our bed which was somewhat firmer than our own at home. Our cabin girl went out of her way to rectify the problem. Always ice for our drinks in the fridge.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
N/A
Onboard Activities4
plenty to do if you wanted to.
Cabins5
yes, we always compare the size with ships we have aready been on. The balcony was 'tight' bu we managed. Advantage with p&o that you can buy duty free and have a drink in your cabin. Like the dressing area. Tea/coffee making facilities.
