Enjoyable Cruise - Pity about the engines

The journey to Gatwick from N devon is always tiring & with an early departure for a long flight to Acapulco we were pleased with the efficiency of our embarkation of Artemis.
The cruise itself went very well, we felt an important factor was the good atmospere on board created by both passengers & crew. The food on board was good & the waiter service was excellent. Our cabin was adequate & we felt there was more space than we had experienced on other ships.
The entertainment was very good especially the singers & dancers who performed most nights.
We think generally shore excursions are expensive, so to be given good advice on 'how to do your own thing' from the excursion office was very useful.
Artemis has been in service many years now & unfortunately at times it showed eg our cabin had a number of plumbing problems some of which were solved.
The big disappointment was one of the engines having a major problem which meant the cruising speed was reduced so much that 2 x ports of call were cancelled for which we were compensated & there were engine vibrations felt on board. We heard that problems had occurred previously.

Does any one know if the engine has been repaired properly and is now reliable as I am booked on Artimis for a cruise 24 april and I am not very good at rowing.

The ship will be going for a re-fit in Bremerhaven before your cruise date so hopefully they will solve the problem then.

We were also on this cruise and to the best of my knowledge the engine problems have not been fixed, the passengers on the cruise following ours had already been told some ports of call would be missed. However I may have some good news, I understand when Artemis returns to Europe she will undergo a two week refit, which I think will be before your cruise.

We sail this coming Saturday (20th March) and were only advised 5 days ago of the engine problems and resultant cancelled port of call. Not good enough in my view and as is witnessed here we could have been advised much, much earlier. Assured safety not compromised but who knows ! Have the opportunity to cancel with a full refund as compensation offered is literally quite pathetic
