We have, today 21 July 2008, returned from the med on the Arcadia. We were told about the propulsion problem, but enjoyed the slower cruise. However, we were disappointed that we missed approx 13 hours in port due to this problem..and we now going to wriote to P&O about this and some other problems. The Belverdere set up for meals is very confusing - the breakfast bar servng cereals, and cold meats - has marmalade and buitter, but we had to queue at the hot bar to get the toast - they should serve this at all breakfast bars. The Meridien however, was super, with lovely helpful staff - so some you win and some you lose - There were many more problems felt by a great number of the passengers - unfortunately we will not be going on the Arcadia again
Quality of Food2
We shared meals between the Belverdere and the Meridien. The poultry was tough. beef was very stringy - desserts were smashing
Entertainment1
Robert Meadmore - too cheesy and dramatic
Shore Excursions4
We only went on one this time "The Olympic Spirit" good value for money and was excellent
Staff4
Orland (our Cabin Steward) who went that extra mile (and with did have an unpleasant problem with our bathroom. Yogesh and Rajesh (our waiters in the Meridien) they were both extremely helpful, friendly but very professional in what they were doing.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities1
Repetitive, at lot of quizzes were held in the "Rising Sun" Ok if you were smokers- but unpleasant if not
Cabins1
Except for the problems with the bathroom floor drain smelling throughpout our 16 nights - plumbers did try to remedy this but without success.

Cruised 27 times before, these people must have been on a different ship!! The steaks were excellent, the chicken breast also.Entertainment in the excellent theatre was very good especially TOM O'CONNER. The loss of about 13 hours was initially annoying but still plenty of time to see the sights. Must admit, we prefer the other P&O ships to this one; try the Aurora or the Oriana next time, they are better !!
Question by TIBBLES, REDDITCH (25 Jul 08 08:29) about this REVIEW
Does anyone know if P & O have a system where you can rent a tuxedo?
Answer by Reeman, Fareham (26 Jul 08 19:08) to a QUESTION by TIBBLES (25 Jul 08 08:29)
The answer to this is unfortunately no. You can purchase them in the ship's boutique known as Piccadilly or you will have to bring one with you.
