Returned home on Tuesday from a 10 day Baltic Cruise on board Arcadia. We have previously cruised with Princess, and having read the reviews on this ship after we had booked it, did debate whether or not we had done the right thing!!! We need not of worried, we had the most fantastic time. From the moment we boarded at Southampton until we drove out of the car park on our return, we had no cause for complaint. OK we did have a noisy air con unit in our cabin that we mentioned to our cabin steward on the Sunday morning, to find that on our return from a stroll round Ship, the unit had been replaced and later in the day the air con engineer called to make sure we were happy. What service!!!
We ate 2nd sitting in the Meridian Restaurant on a table for 6. Again, this was something new to us as we have previously cruised with family so always knew who we were sitting with!!!! We need not of worried, we were seated with 2 lovely couples, and although there was a mix of ages we got on fantastically, and most nights after dinner all attended the shows together. The food was very acceptable, and it was nice to have additional potatoes and vegetables to accompany the main courses, we had lunch most days in the restaurant but the times we did use the Belvedere we were not disappointed. We tended to have breakfast delivered to our cabin in the hope of keeping the calories at bay!!!!
We found the prices of drinks etc on board excellent and liked the fact that we didnt have to keep converting from one currency to another!!!!
The Headliners were the icing on the cake, what a talented bunch!!! They thoroughly deserved the standing ovations they got show after show. We didnt think much of the lady singer or the comedian.
Our cabin was spacious and kept spotlessly clean.
Yes, as other people have mentioned there was a large mix of ages on board, but it all added to the enjoyment of the holiday - we sat with some lovely people at various times, and some of the older ones had very interesting tales to tell!!!!but there was also quite a large number of "mid aged" people as well as some younger ones, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
We did most of our exploring on our own, only booking one trip to Draygor - it is good that P&O lay on shuttle buses, and they remind you constantly of the time of the last bus back to the dock, the only shuttle bus we had to pay for was the one is Oslo, and to be honest, you could walk into the centre yourself. We did Brugge on our own via the shuttle bus and train, at a cost of about £3.50 each!!!! The train runs every hour and takes about 15 mins.

Honestley, no on was more worried than us, but we're sure you will have just as wonderful time as we did. Do make sure you go and see the Headliners - their shows are a great way to end off an evening. The performers come out into the audience before and after the shows for a chat and your feedback on the shows, they are a superb bunch of individuals. So jealous!!! wishing you a fantastic cruise on a truly fantastic ship. Regards.

We were on the cruise vefore you to the Adriatic, it was a lovely cruise and we had a great time visiting Dubrovnik and Split as we have never been to either before. When on board we visited the Arcadian Rhodes twice and the Thai restaurant once. Both were wonderful, but especially the Arcadian Rhodes. I guess if you are having a wedding celebration on board you will not be disappointed, it is extremely special and is good as any similar restaurants on shore eg Waterside at Bray or Le Manoir. Book in advance and tell them what size table you would like!

Thanks for the information about the Gray Rhodes restaurant - really looking forward to the trip now you have told me what it is like. Could you tell me what sizes and shapes the tables were and how many could be seated at a table. Thanks - P&O haven't let me know this information yet even after asking for over a year!

Thank you for such a full and delightful report on your trip to the Baltic on the Arcadia. WE look forward with great enthusiasm to our cruise to the Norwegian Fiords and Iceland on the Arcarddia on 16th July.

Oh we are so jealous!!!! we did the Norwegian Fjords and Iceland 2 years ago - with the added benefit of the midnight sun - so surreal to have daylight nearly 24 hours a day!!!! The scenery is fantastic, I used to sit on the balcony watching the ship dock into as many ports as I could, you have to see these sights to believe them. We did the walk to the Glacier at Olden, which is preceeded by a boat trip to get you there, we were blessed with beautiful sunny days (we cruised last 2 weeks of June 2007) so you should be lucky with the weather, but did need a fleece when visiting the Godafoss waterfalls in Iceland. Have a wonderful trip.

We are booked onto this ship July 31st for a wedding......did you try the Gary Rhodes Restaurant? That is where we will have the meal after the wedding but I haven't been able to find out any comments on it. So pleased you enjoyed the trip.

Hi, we have just returned from Arcadia, on initial inspection of the menu in the Arcadia Rhodes I decided that it was not worth the extra £15 per person. We attended the Executives Chefs cooker demonstration and on seeing how some of the Rhodes menu items were prepared and presented we booked. What a wonderful evening it turned into, wonderful food, relaxed enviroment, absolute attention to detail a truly special occasion, where better to have your wedding day reception. We enjoyed it so much that we booked again for later in the cruise. Yes it does take longer to have your meal, that is because they give you these wonder little suprise treats between courses, do not be tempted in the bar with any nibbles beforehand.
Best wishes for a Very Long & Happy Marriage, as long as the husband can say "Yes Dear" it will be ok.
