We boarded Nautica in Singapore and check in was quick and efficient once we were on board, having queued for some time to get through security/customs. As a surprise for my husbands 60th birthday I had booked a penthouse suite with a butler, he was expecting a balcony cabin. This was well worth the extra cost and our butler was amazing doing everything from bringing us morning tea in bed, afternoon canopies, sorting out our dietry requirements, booking specialist restaurants and generally helping with any queries. we met many delightful people, staff were all very help[ful. This was a very interesting itinary visiting Singapore, Bali and several places in Australia. We enjoyed the size of the ship with 600 guests and the ease of getting around but the evening entertainment was more limited than on the larger ships. food in the dining room was of variable quality whilst both specialist restaurants were excellent so we ended up eating in there most nights. Overall a good cruise and would definately recommend Oceania ships
Quality of Food4
Main dining room was disspointing in the quality of the food. Staff tried their best but meals in the evening were very variable in quality. Lunches were usually very good. We mainly ate in the two specialist restaurants which were both excellent in every respect.
Entertainment3
Black tie, who we have seen before on Seabourn, were excellent. The illusionist, although good at what he did, became repetative after his 3rd appearance.
Shore Excursions2
Excursions were very expensive. You had to take the ships tour in Komodo as you could not go ashore otherwise but this was very disspointing.
Staff4
Our butler Naned was excellentin catering for our every need. Also the assistant maitre de Kasha (? cant remember the spelling) was very helpful sorting out special meals.

Onboard Activities4
lots and lots of quizzes. An awesome cruise dirctor, Dottie, running all activities with military precision!
Cabins4
very pleased with the cabin - our first time in a penthouse suite

Sounds like the Nautica I know and love! Glad you had such a wonderful time. I was surprised about your comment re the food in the main dinig room as in our experience, in Oct 2009, it was faultless. Who was the Exec Chef?

Firstly I am jealouse of your butler, but do you have to rub it in for us mere mortals that have to travel steerage if at all

We were on the same cruise and couldn't agree more. The Penthouse Suite was great and service excellent. Excursions were too expensive to bother with so did our own thing. We will definitely go again.
