Boarding Nautica was a tense experience for us as our other cruises had been with Cunard.

We were concerned that the Oceania experience would not live up to the White Glove experience.

Nautica did not dissapoint. The DVD that we had been sent was a n accurate representation of life on board. It was smart country club casual. The food was above expectation, and Toscanna and Polo the speciality restaraunts were both excelent.

Cabins were small but beautifuly kept. We made a lot of use of our balcony.

Niggles. yes. 18% service charge on the drinks, and the high cost of shore excursions. There is no tipping as such, but a 25$ daily charge is levied to the cabin. The additional cost of 4 trips, the cabin charge, and the bar bill came to an aditional £1100.00

We had 12 fantastic days. Enjoyed the company of Americans and hardly saw any britts on board. Dining in the formal restaurant was an event in the evening as it was all open dining. Some nights we had a table for two on other occasions we had a table for 4 or eight. Entertainment was in the spirit of New York in the 50's. Good singers and commedians. No pale copies of West End shows and frankly all the better for it.

Would I go again. Yes. The scale of the ship is perfect. 680 passengers and almost 600 staff, means that the level of service is just right. This is a classy ship with a very hard working crew who have one ambition to give their guests a very good time.

We cruised with Insignia in September and agree with all your comments about the food, entertainment, cabins and charges. Obviously the standards are pretty similar which is nice to know. We don't drink much just the odd glass of wine so our bar bill was very low as smoothies, coffee etc were all free. Didn't mind the cabin charge as it saved wondering how to tip so many different staff and we found all the staff absolutely fantastic, much better than any hotel I've stayed at. In contrast on our cruise we did see quite a lot of Canadians, Australians and British but the majority were Americans. All the people on board were very friendly and well mannered and what I loved was no queues anywhere. It was our first cruise but we'd go with Oceania again at the drop of a hat. A lovely experience and worth every penny.
