Overall we had an excellent experience on board the Oceania's Insignia. The service staff were fantastic with every need catered for. Excellent restaurants with variety and table service in all but the buffet where food was served to you so as to avoid contact with dishes & prevent accidents (a good idea) available thanks to the high number of service staff.
Dining was comfortable with no need for "black tie" so not too much "pomp" but style was evident from the majority of guests. We only had two significant complaints -1/ The good quality live band was only available to dance to at times when either dressing for or at dinner so the enjoyment of their music was at a minimum - such a waste! Other entertainment apart from a British illusionist was poor an lacked audience involvement. 2/ We were not advised that on the first full day in Istanbul that ALL TRANSPORT INTO THE CITY WAS PROHIBITED FROM THE STREETS due to a fun run marathon event after 9.00 a.m. Had we been advised we could have made our way by the excellent tram service before it was taken down for the rest of the day so avoiding AN HOURS WALK IN HEAVY RAIN AND SO BEING SOAKED TO THE SKIN!
On the other hand we were totally impressed with "ENGLISH AFTERNOON TEA" served to your table in the lounge between 4 & 5 pm by staff dressed as Victorian serving staff including the obligatory white cotton cloves. Another plus for us as not heavy alcohol drinkers was the complimentary "all soft drinks juices & water"
The ship was kept spotlessly clean as we have found is usually a higher standard with American Cruise ships apposed to European or otherwise based.
Quality of Food5
All restaurants with table service all meals selection were good quality
Entertainment2
The only good entertainment was a British illusionist and the resident band "WHEN AVAILABLE"
Shore Excursionsn/a
Used our own agents on shore
Staff5
All service staff - The management above supervisory level were not evident at any time other than the final farewell
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities3
Limited but were only required on one day at sea - otherwise days were spent in ports of call - just as we like it.
Cabins3
Average for a cruise ship with necessary cons.

Oceania have never sold themselves on entertainment & something the smaller ship high end lines have never pushed in general.
