Cruise Ship: Insignia Sailed: February, 2009
Destination: South America Age: 65+
Cabin: Balcony
This was the first time we had cruised with Oceania Cruises and we were very impressed. We had been on the type of ship before as it was one of the Renaissance ships and had been a few times on Minerva 2, so we liked the ship The cabins are big and there are balconies on most decks. The cruise was from Valparaiso to Rio and it was a very good itinerary.

The food and service were excellent. The best we have ever had on a cruise ship and we have cruised mnay times. We also liked the entertainment and the excursions.

We did not like the addition of 18% service charge on all drinks but this is common on most US ships. It just meant you drank less or drank more of the included soft drinks. We were not happy that the ship did not have any of the crew on the excursions. They relied only on the ground operators. We are used to having a guide and also someione from the ship on each coach.

We would cceratinly travel with oceania again.

Hi, Did you use local currency in Chile, Argentina and Urguary or were US $ readily accepted ? Thanks

As we stayed a few days pre-cruise in Santiago, we had Chilean money, otherwise we used US Dollars apart from the Falklands when we could use British pounds!
