Ocean villages next to last cruise before leaving to start a new life down under & we were determined to be on it!!October 2010 saw us fly to Heraklion & sail off to loads of destinationbs including Dubrovnik, Cairo, Venice,Rhodes to name but a few. Service was as usual , very good & food even better, & even though the old girl was looking a little weary, she will be very sadly missed by many afficianados of the free & easy style of cruising that Ocean village did so well.Who is going to fill the gap now that O.v. is no more?? Thomson seems to try but just miss the mark although we leave for the Caribbean in 3 days aboard Thomson Destiny just to give it another try , so watch this space for a further review.
I must admit that entertainment on board Ocean village was a bit butlins, but we always preferred to chat & socialise with fellow guests. Please come back O.v or will someone PLEASE copy the format!!!
Before I close, just a couple of tips which may be of use to someone. If visiting Venice for the first time, it is really easy to walk into cenral Venice from the cruise terminal, only about 20-30 mins. Also, be careful in the main square in Rhodes old town, drinks are a complete rip off in the bars & restaurants around the square, about 12 euro for a large beer, dearer in some places. If no price is shown, AVOID IT!!
