We have just returned from our sixth cruise with NCL having been on the Pearl three times, the Gem twice and the Star once, with another one planned. Cruising from Miami to the Caribbean a wonderful time was had by us all. It has been said to us why don’t you try another cruise line, but why should we when NCL suits our every need. On this occasion special assistance was required on embarking and disembarking from the ship. The crew member Rodney Miller couldn’t have been more helpful and went out of his way to get me through the queues. We always have a mini suite, which has plenty of room for the three of us. The cabin stewards soon got us sorted and again nothing was too much trouble. Cleanliness is a top priority and we were offered hand gel at every occasion. It is always a surprise to us to find some people still don’t bother and don’t wash their hands when they should. The buffet was up to its usual standard and the food was always hot and nicely presented. We were even able to find tables when we wanted them in the buffet. We also use the special restaurants and found them excellent. The chocolate buffet was a little bit disappointing, not many chocolate displays or ice sculptures. The entertainment was top notch, although some of it was aimed at the US audience - but then perhaps we are easy to please!!!!!! We didn’t take any excursions preferring to do our own thing in our own time. All in all a great time.

Before you rave about how great everything was on the Pearl you should really try another cruise line. My wife and I just returned from the Pearl (Carrib. St. Thomas, Tortolla etc) and were both very disapointed. We have done NCL,Royal Carrib., princess, and carnival, Royal Carib. was the best and Carnival actually suprised us with great service and food. Food and service on the Pearl were ok/good but the beef, other than the prime rib was stringy and tough. The buffet was lacking in variety severely. Cabin attendant was ok, but never introduced herself and never did more than what was minimally required. Shore excursions were poor, two were cancelled due to lack of interest. Onboard activities were lacking unless you consider drinking an activity. The entertainers brought on board were great, (four seasons tribute,jugglers and comic) while their own players were terrible. Don't feel I'm knocking your review but you have to drink from more than one barrel before deciding which one tastes the best.

Nice to hear you had a great time with ncl we to have cruised on the star to mexico and had a brilliant holiday loved the freedom of freestyle cruising we have booked to go on the epic next year meeting up with friends we made on our last cruise
