This was our 5th cruise with NCL after having cruised on the Dream,Pearl,Sun & Jewel.
It never seems to amaze me how people will complain about the slightest little thing when it goes wrong and considering all the problems with foreign travel in the world today, surely something will!!!!!
But I digress-----We flew without any problems with BA to Barcelona and were swiftly transferred to the Jade.
Checkin was delayed by 30mins due to the ship being sanitized ,as on the previous 2 trips there had been outbreaks of Novovirus.....Most probably caused by the stops in Egypt(not the cleanest country by any means)and passengers NOT SANITIZING THEIR HANDS PROPERLY."How totally stupid can people be?
Anyway on board the ship was spotless and remained that way for the whole of the 9day cruise, without any Novovirus problems.Staff always on hand sanitizing at every entrance to the ship.Even to the point of insisting.
Now dont think I never complain, quite the opposite,If I am not happy I can shout louder than most, but I have to say in all the 5 cruises with NCL from Alaska to Mexico,Belize,Cayman Islands,New York,Canada and noe the Med,I can only relate to one issue, and that was on the Alaska cruise the Internet Manager must have been having an off day,or didnt have his oats the night before as he was quite miserable and abrupt------------In every other aspect I find it very very hard to find fault with NCL,and that is saying something for me,"the guy who if his train is delayed or cancelled is very likely to fly off the handle with great speed."
You definately get what you pay for---A mid price cruise worth every penny,Just be aware of the inclusive flight package costs. It is much cheaper just booking the cruise and then seperate flights.
Food in the dining rooms was good, the staterooms(inside)perfecly adequate with very comfortable beds and the service on board excellent
Entertainment is what you want it to be,and doesnt account for everybodies taste. If its not what you want there is plenty more to do.
Now the subject of drinks....for gods sake stop moaning...... a spirit and mixer is approx $6 incl tax far cheaper than any pub in England or hotels abroad, with the exception of duty free that is.If you want to get completely ratted then an all inclusive cruise is probably the best for you, with all the drunks and aggravation that goes with it----YUK not for me!!!!!
Considering all the hard work the staff are worth it and that includes the $12 a day gratuity.
The ports of call were great with Morocco a real eye-opener.Funchal unfortuanately has been devastated by the mud slides and it is such a shame as we docked there 4 days before it happened. It is a beautiful place.
All in all another great cruise with NCL
Disembarkation was so quick and the flight home just the same
I could go on and on so,
To sum up----for a great mid-price cruise this is definately the company to go with,if you want 5 star luxury, then pay the price for it $$$$$,if you want non stop boozing then try Thompsons or Island Escape(the charter end of the cruise market)$$,If you want all round value for money then its NCL.
Reviews should be honest and truthful, the things some people were complaining about on the Jade really do not add up to anything more than plain moaning or fabricated issues which could not be further than the truth
One guy said the ship was dirty he needs glasses another moaned about the food, let me tell you the food in the dining rooms was far better than I have had in restaurants all over the world.
The moral of this story dont just let one thing ruin your holiday----and dont always trust other reviews.Be your own judge.

I think we were probably on the same cruise and loved it, it was good value for money, the staff were very helpful and the food was excellent, the only (minor) problem was the queueing at the buffet as we were not allowed to help ourselves because of the novovirus outbreak but everyone was expected to sanitise regularly.the entertainment was varied and also excellent, our first cruise and loved it.

We did this cruise in January and it was the worse we have ever been on ... perhaps your expectations are lower than mine. I will not be taking another NCL cruise. i disagree about both food & service.

Well said...............I totally agree. My son watched a customer on the Jade flick some of the food served to him by the waiter on the Jade on the floor, "because he gave him too much " Maybe I've got Jade coloured glasses on, however I don't think they receive the credit they derserve.

We too have been on he Jade and loved it and we are a bit picky! We had a VERY slight problem, pointed it out in a quiet, reasoned manner and all was quickly put right. I don't think our expectations are low - quite the reverse! Jacquie
