North Cape on the Norwegian Jade.
June I drove to Southampton Docks leaving my suitcase at the terminal, parked my car and walked back to the Terminal and joined a queque for the ship. This did not take too long, along walk to board the ship. On boarding the ship I was given a half glass of sparkling wine and left to find my cabin not easy on such a large ship.
I have cruised and traveled a great deal so expected more from NCL. The ship I loved was The Marco Polo which NCL sold. The Marco Polo had a personal friendly touch/ professional.
I could not enter my cabin as it was not prepared so I headed for the Garden Cafe, this was packed to bursting so I headed for the pool area and on the way meeting one of the ex crewe from the Marco Polo this was great because by this time I was feeling very lost and lonely.
We had a chat about where the ex crew of MP were working and then I headed for the pool deck, all I can say is Butlins on the Sea!
The ship set sail and I met another person from the MP.
Beautiful evening for the sail the Red Arrows did a display and we were on our way to Norway.
The seas were calm weather sunny but cool, first stop Aelsund beautiful place decided to go independant as the excursions were expensive. I climbed to the top and took in the view amazing.
Kristiansund, then we crossed the Arctic Circle watching the Blue nose ceremony, the children loved this, also cruising to the Svarisen Glacier
Honningsvag, North Cape, the ship provided coaches only to visit the Cape, very expensive but worth the visit. There were 4 other liners in this small port it is amazing they had enough buses and room because the cruisers were large.
Next stop Trondheim, an amazing city, good views from the top. Cruising the fiords Hellesylt and Geiranger, scenic and beautiful. My favourite places were Bergen visiting the Bryggen and Stavanger so clean.
I cannot say I enjoyed Free Style Cruising, I prefer to see people a bit dressier in the evenings.
There was a beautiful theater and good shows, plenty of serviced charged restaurants and 54 different nationalities on board! so I am told.
As a single I felt very lonely," Billy no mates" as I never saw people again. I personally will stick to smaller ships in future and waited on evening food.
An amazing gym, plenty of equipment and the swimming pools were heated and well maitained
I enjoyed my cruise amazing scenery and the ship grew on me!!
