My family and I set sail on the MSC Splendida last July. We visited Barcelona (Spain), Tunis (Tunisia), Malta, Sicilia (Italy), Roma (Italy), Genoa (Italy) and Marseille (France). This was the second cruise of the ship, and her first one leaving from Barcelona. The ship is really amazing. If you do not find something to do, you will not find anywhere else on sea. The choice of activities on board is as large as the lengh of the ship (1,093.5 feet or 333.30 m). A wonderful "Aqua area" with several swimming pools mid-ship, plus one at the back (for adults only, in principle). The disco is enjoyable with a nice view over the pool deck, appreciated by adults or by teens as well. There are also activities you will not find elsewhere like a F1 simalator or a 4D cinema. The evening shows are wonderful for most of them, and are taking place on a state-of-the-art stage, where everyone will have a good time. The cabins give an impression of luxury, even in lower categories, and are very convenient. There are two free of charge restaurants (one being reserved for MSC Yacht club cabins for supper and for anyone at noon), two extra charge restaurants (one serving Mediterranean cuisine and one Mexican cuisine) and one self-service, which is a bit too small at rush hours. The food is good, but not extraordinary. The shore excursions are interesting, especially the one for Roma ("Classic Roma").
In Tunis, there are many affordable cabs to take you to the different key points. In Genoa, you can take a walk to the city centre (20 min) and ask a map at the tourist information.
To conclude, I would say that the plus is the ship is the choice of activities and the decoration. However, the swimming pool at rush hours can be a real mess.
