NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL CRUISE LINES

Just back from a cruise on the POESIA, was hugely disappointed having cruised with several other lines and enjoyed every minute of it, from boarding to disembarkation. The experience i had when cruising from Venice left a lot to be desired. The check in process was un-co-ordinated, with no real direction from members of the cruise team, people seem to be milling about everywhere, with passengers instructing other passengers as to where they should go to deposit their cases, once inside the terminal building we were kept waiting for several hours to board, having been issued with numbered boarding stickers, eventually we were transferred from the ferry terminal by water taxi to where the Poesia was docked. The ship itself is fabulous with no expense spared on furnishings etc., cabins are well appointed, clean and reasonably spacious. I feel it should be made very clear to all passengers that MSC are predominately catering for Italian clients as these make up the majority of passengers on these cruises. The cruise company appeared to be unable to ensure all passengers attended the compulsary life boat drill, with many passengers remaining in the pool/pool area while the drill was undertaken. Also the dress code which is applicable on most cruise lines was certainly not adhered to on this ship, with people attending dinner on a formal gala evening in jeans!!!! The restaurant staff in the evening were absolutely fabulous and very very attentative with good quality and wide choice of dishes. Staff in the Cafeteria however was apathetic and very unhelpful, a smile was a rare find. All in all i would not ever choose to sail with MSC again.

I was very surprised to hear that this ITALIAN cruise ship sailing from VENICE had predominately ITALIAN passengers onboard! Were YOU surprised? If people really need to be reminded of such obvious things as this, then they must be choosing the cruise with their eyes, or minds, shut! Happy cruising.

Dear Sir/Madam I have cruised on several cruise ships, but does that mean if i sail from Spain, these ships will carry mainly Spanish passengers, i can assure you this is not the case, cruises depart from many countries with a huge mix of nationalities, as for the fact that MSC is an Italian cruise ship, they certainly advertise their ammenities as suitable for one and all. However it was not the fact that this ship was mainly full of Italian passengers that was the problem, it was the fact that the cruise line were unable to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all passengers by adherence to protocol, however i did have a happy cruise despite the above, but remain fixed in that i will not sail with this company again, thank you for your kind comments.......
