we sailed from venice on the 3rd of october 2009 visiting bari, olympiad, izmir, istanbul, dubrovnik and finally returning to venice the cruise ship was only 16 month old and it was truly a beautiful vessel carrying over 3000 passengers and a crew of 1000 we had a balcony cabin on the tenth deck starboard side again a first class and luxury place to rest and relax in together with a mini bar and cabin service at hand 24 hours a day the restaurants on board were very good on the 13th deck was a self service open for breakfast and lunch although in the evening it reverted to a pizza parlour<which was at an additional cost to the dining room> the dining room was very good and the food well prepared with seven courses every evening obviouslythe cost of mineral water and wines were chargable as expected<although many of the passengers thought that it should be free?> the ship in general terms was italian sailing from an italian port with many italian and european passengers whilst there were a small contingency of british ,american, canadian and australian passengers therefore most thing were catered for the european as opposed to the remainder this showed in the entertainment in the evenings and the daytime at the poolside <jugglers, magicians, dancers, acrobats etc.> at every announcement it was carried out in six different languages and i can assure you that there were a lot of announcements!! but again overall the entertainment was quite reasonable considering all those nationalities? the ashore excursions were very costly considering where we went but once again most cruise ships ashore excursions normally are more costly than the average trip you would go on if you were staying in the resort!! i personnally went to the olympiad and the istanbul organised tours with the ship but the remainder i took a taxi in bari and izmir and obviously the shuttle bus into dubrovnik.overall i enjoyed my eight day cruise of the eastern mediterranean on a magnificent italian cruise ship with excellent food, fairly good entertainment and the ship,s crew were very kind and extremely helpful. but as i previously mentioned the problems arise through the LANGUAGE BARRIER which created problems like embarking and particularly disembarking<we sat at the airport for most of the day approximately 8 hours<we were taken off the ship before 1030 hours to await transportation to the airport for a 1645 hours flight to england.so would i go again on this italian cruise ship,i would say definately YES and particularly if they could address the LANGUAGE BARRIER !! but i will say if you go from italian port on an italian cruise ship sailing around europe what an you expect?

I believe MSC has a fantastic opportunity to win more customers from the UK . Have been on MSC Orchestra and found the cruise prices very competitive. All MSC need to do is iron out the same old problems with basic organisation such as joining and leaving the ship. Upgrade the entertainment and get rid of the Adult entertainers " the Clappy Clappy brigade" and go for casual dining like Ocean Village. If they did that we might consider going back again in the future. Most of the MSC ships are very high quality compared with the "20 year old fleet of Thomson and Ocean Village and some of the rest.

I have cruised twice with MSC, once on Poisia and once on Fantasia and I agree with everything that has been said. I have just returned from a cruise on Queen Victoria (twice the price) and next time I will return to MSC. The one thing I have promised myself to do is learn some Italian and then that language barrier will be overcome as well
