As you say your review is a personal account. I too sailed on Opera 8th August when ship was full to capacity. We were impressed at the amount of personal space available even on inclement days when most people were indoors. We could also find a quiet area on the pool deck and ample deck chairs on warmer days. The only venue that seemed busy was Cotton's that seemed to be popular with young families at all times of the day..Our dining experience couldn't have been more different to yours - we were in L' Approdo Restaurant and never had to ask to have wine and water glasses to be filled up. We enjoyed the food immensely and contrary to some comments found the servings more than adequate. For me the food is a very important part of my cruise, possibly the most important, and I was more than happy with MDR and the service we received. We didn't use the gym facilities despite family members buying soft shoes in Bibao with that intent. Our inside four berth cabin was fine as were our mattresses and bedding. I agree that if these things are not right it clouds the whole experience. We have only done one Celebrity cruise and our cabin was shabby and tiny and MDR disappointing so have not wanted to repeat the experienced despite others claims that they are a superior brand. Sorry you did not share the good aspects of our experience because it compared very well to the other six cruise lines I've travelled with and better than Celebrity.
Its always good to see, MSC getting the low ratings they thoroughly deserve, in reviews such as this from Stines, of London. With any luck, people who review and research their cruise choice will be warned of the potential problems, before they waste their holiday cash with MSC. Or at the very least be aware of MSC's bad points and then be able to avoid the countless potential problems referred to in the review above, which unfortunately ruined my MSC cruise. Hindsight they say is 20-20.
