i took my daughter on a mediteranean cruise last year as a surprise for her 18th birthday.it was wonderful.
the cabin was great, and all the staff made us extremely welcome.
the food was lovely and alot of choice.
one thing i was a little disappointed with is that apart from breakfast when you could have a drink free eg tea, coffee, water or juices.and lunch and dinner water was available. All other times you had a to buy drinks...whether it was just a coffee or a soft drink you wanted.
so alot of money was spent on drinks.i understand alcohol should be paid for but not water.water was not readily available only at meal times.
other than this the cruise was great.we would like to choose a bigger cruise ship next time and travel for longer.thanks to msc cruises....i now have the bug for cruises and long to go again

Hello I was quite heartened to read your review as we (me, hubby, daughter who will be 14 and son 11) have booked to go on the MSC Melody in August 2010, and having read some negative reviews was getting a bit concerned but was more reassured by yours. I just wonderd if you wouldn't mind answering a couple of questions for me? Firstly, were you aware of what facilitties there are for older children / teenagers (appreciate your daughter was much older, but wondered if it was obvious) and also, were there many other english speaking passengers? Any other advice you can offer about the Melody would be most welcome. Many thanks.

Good to know that you enjoyed your cruise and I am sorry to confirm that it is a bug which is impossible to get rid of! If you go on another MSC cruise, coffee and tea are available free at the buffet. If you get a latte in a bar you do pay but it isn't over the top at €2.10 (euros).Generally, if you get a coffee in the bar in any ship you will have to pay, but on several other cruise lines, buffets are open all day where coffee and tea are free. Enjoy your next cruise!
