We booked an 11 night balcony cabin cruise on MSC Fanatasia to the Canaries. BA flight from Gatwick to Genoa was on time but reclaiming luggage took about 20 minutes, also locating the cruise representative at the airport was not that straight forward. Coach journey from airport to cruise terminal ok but getting your own luggage off the coach was rather hazardous as the coach drivers are not very careful, otherwise access to Fantasia was good.

Food at dinner in the allocated restaurant overall was adequate (5/10) with the exception of the Gala Dinner which was excellant. Breakfast in the restaurant was very slow so we ate in the self service which was an absolute bunfight. The same free for all applied in respect of lunch/afternoon tea which was served in a small part of the restaurant. Overall the restaurant staff were excellent (8/10) We would mention that only bottled water was available to purchase at Euro 2 and it was impossisble to get a jug of tap water!

Accommodation - cabin was excellent, best we have had (10/10)
Max capacity of the ship is apparently 3900 and there were 3000 passengers on baord, approx 80-100 British, majority German but in fairness this was expected.

Shows were good but short and acrobatics featured perhaps too much but a fantastic theatre. Also the bars had musical entertainment which was good.

Ship was very well equipped but swimming pools/jucuzzis etc were extremely busy and sun bathing areas simply too small.

Spa was very good but over priced and facilities for children appeared excellent.

The numerous bars all had very slick service but all drinks coffee etc were loaded with a 15%
service charge.

At some ports of call there was a charge for the shuttle bus to the port entrance/town. Excursions were very over priced. Also time available in port was minimal at some ports of call eg Barcelona arr 1pm dep 7pm and Malaga arr 7am dep2pm Shops did not open until 10am which die not give much time in port.

Disembarkation: Arrangements were first class, colour coded luggage, cases put out night before for collection. Leaving the ship was swift and efficient we were clear of port by 10am, ongoing coach transport at dockside. The downside for the British passengers was the carefully worded details of the itinerary which masked the fact that the return airport was Turin different from the in-flight which we failed to notice until the booking had been made, hence 2 1/4hr transfer with a 6 hour wait at airport from evening flight. BA return flight on schedule.

Overall good value for money (7/10) on a superb ship, but more time in the various ports would have improved the cruise.
