I went on my first cruise with my partner in September 2009. We selected a casual cruise because we had never done it before and my partner is not one for his dinner jackets!!! We had a balcony cabin which was absolutely brilliant and well worth the extra money. We sat on it every day and had great views of arriving into and leaving the ports. The ship we were on was the Island Star - now left the company - which i would say was a definite 3* there were no pretences of it trying to be any more and i think in the cabins this did show. Having never been on a cruise i expected the cabins to be small but the bathroom was literally tiny and i bit dated. There were a few younger people on the ship but not too many this did not bother us as we are not into bars and partying. The shows were brilliant but you did ned to be there about 45min before the start to get a decent seat which was annoying. My partner is a chef and thought the food was ok. it was buffet and there was a lot of choice but it was the same every day and a bit bland. it was always hot to be fair but just not very exciting. the staff were lovely and overall this wasa brilliant starter cruise and we will def cruise again

As from March 2009 Island star was transfered to Pullmantours (a subsidary of RCCL) and after a refit is now operating out of Spain. The Island Escape is still operating under TUI (Thompsons) due to contract arrangements with the owners RCCL.You either have the wrong ship or date.
