We did the Canary Island cruise in mid february, we were unhappy with two things. The first problem was the location of our cabin, right at the front of the ship on deck 6. During the storm (Force10) we felt every wave, every pitch, every roll that hit the ship! The ship is simply not suited to sail in Atlantic waters in bad weather! The second problem was the quality of the food. Both self service restaurants served identical menus so choice was very limited and the quality left a lot to be desired. To get any quality of food you have to pay the premium rate of £15.00 a head to sit in a separate restaurant, this is normally standard fare on most other cruise lines. Can fully understand why Thomson do not sail this ship with the Thomson name and barely mention it in their Thomson Cruises brochure.

Due to bad weather we missed two ports of call but Madeira was the best and Lanzarote was the worst.

All were very diligent especially one of the drinks waitresses who recognised us from a previous cruise.

had a wonderful cruise, end of feb. food was always hot and plenty of choice and very good quality. we were always informed what the weather was going to be like. We missed the force 11. but due to bad weather in Madeira we had to go back to Gran Canaria, so for us Lanzarote was the best Arricife was beautiful.

We had a perfectly good cruise on this ship last year, food was good, you could have booked a different cabin. There is as much infomation about this ship as any other on the website.

The food served on Escape is purely English stodge and plenty of it.The ship is operated byTUI (Thomsons) and in a deal last year Escape was part of it and the Lease that goes with it.

The Island Escape is not fit for purpose.
Opinion: Agree Comment by Cooper, Bromley (08 Mar 10 18:23) about this REVIEW
The Island Escape should be scrapped - it is unsafe, it was never designed or intended to sail in The Atlantic in force 10 gails! - Pull the plug on it Thomsons, before there is a catastrophe at sea!
