We were on the infamous Christmas Carousel Cruise. We have complained to Thomson and they have appologised for the cruise and offered 25% cash as compensation. We have turned that down as being an insult. This was our first cruise with Thomson which we believed was a name you could trust. How wrong we were. TUI is a German Company, would they send any German holiday makers on this tub? The Germans would not stand for the state of this rusty converted ferry. So let the British go on it! They don't complain. Well this time we do! It is vile and Thomson's should be ashamed of themselves. It's not so much about the money we paid (proper cruise ship prices) but the fact that they know there are major problems with the vessel but keep taking hard earned money from people to travel on the shabby unstable rust bucket.

The overall view looks to be that Thompson's have had some issues on this ship, and whilst the food and crew seem to be o/k in the various reviews, the management attitude looks to be at best rubbish. A paltry 25% refund is mean and is probably equal to the margin they make, why do they even bother? A company is judged on what it does when things go wrong, and ignoring the problems aint on. How many people have been put off this ship? I for one, but with bigger and newer ships coming on line and prices getting competitive Thompsons are going to have to buck up.

Was the food okay, what about the activities. or the excursions or the staff? Why don't you tell us about those?? Regular readers will know of the views of some Island Escape passengers but there are equally just as many if not more that had a good time. Let us hear about the dedicated people that put in the hard work on your cruise ship to try and make sure you had a good holiday.

The food is quite repetative, nothing special and luke warm, the activities are exactly the same as 2007 and not great, excursions are over the top price wise and the staff are not as friendly as previous cruises on this boat (floating disaster)!!!!

Do you work for Thomsons? Yes, ok the staff are a hard working bunch of people who deserve to be on a proper cruise ship. Nothing makes up for the ruined holiday at a special time of year.

Well said. We went on this ship last September and were involved in some big thunderstorms. The rain even came in the ship. But we all just got on with it. The staff were call from their time off to help clear the flood on board, which I thought was quite amusing. Never thought it would rain in a ship, ha ha. Even had water come in our balcony cabin, but that was nature not Thomson fault. You can't control the weather. Yes it is an old ship. Yes it needs updating. Unitll they can take it off line these jobs can not be processed. The staff were terrific from Capitan to boiler man, stewards to cleaners they all just smiled and got on with the duties. We are going on our 3rd Thomson ship in April and looking forward to it, we know we will have a great time.
