Flew from Doncaster 5th Feb 2010. Good flight on time. Arrived in Tenerife to a painless transfer to the ship. We were in cabin 6523 and it was fine for the 3 of us.We took our 7 year old granddaughter who quickly became obsessed with Palmy's kids club. They even took her off for breakfast which meant we got a lie in. The ship overall isnt in to bad a condition although I noticed that the passageways on the lower decks were a bit tatty so if the cabins were the same you could have cause to be disgruntled. There was a damp smell in a couple of stairways and these were roped off.The food was good although the Beachcomer seemed to be a bit of a free for all ,with plastic cups and plates(it is on the pool deck) they are for safety reasons as people do eat out by the pool. Island restaurant was much more civilised with proper cups and plates but the same menu.We never tried the Oasis.Entertainment was very watchable. We did find the shore trips expensive so did our own thing. You can walk to the lifts at Maderia in 20 mins and it cost us 25 euro's each to go up and walk around the botancal gardens(nice if you like more than daisy's and dandilions in your garden) then back down in the lift,it was 7.50 euro's for the granddaughter with free entry to the gardens.A taxi on lanzarote was 8.50 euro's to costa teguise Thomsons wanted 12 euro's each for their bus. They told us 4 million is going to be spent on the ship in October not sure if that will be enough to brinng it right up to modern day standards. We did suffer blocked toilets but they were fixed while we were at breakfast.
I would recommened this as a value for money ship with 3 star accomadation 4 star entertainment and 5 star staff
And yes I would go on it again. It is worth noting we had absolutley brilliant weather

I agree everything you say I was on the ship the same week as your family, there were a few faults but the staff quickly sorted out the probles, everyone was friendly & great value for money where can you go with full board afternoon teas, entertainment & wake up to a differnt place everyday, I had a great holiday & fantastic weather, felt sorry for the ones who complained as they obviously didn't know how to enjoy themselves, glad to hear you'll go again my fourth time on Island Escape.
