This ferry boat is a disgrace and shouldn't be at sea. Our Christmas was ruined by being on this vessel It doesn't just need hand sanitisers it needs troughs of disinfectant to walk through after being in the public toilets that overflow. If you value your health and sanitly do not travel on this ferry and do not expect a cruise ship. Thomsons are not concerned and do not want to know.
Quality of Food
Avoid the beachcomber. Leaks like a sieve. Tables dirty and Plastic plates and teaspoons were straws! Island restaurant ok but stained tablecloths and napkins. Food warm - not hot.
Entertainment
Theatre was flat so if you couldn't get near to the stage you couldn't see. Had to get there half an hour before the show as it got really crowded.
Shore Excursions
Staff
Feel sorry for them all. They deserve to be on a better vessel.

Cabins
Must be the original 28 year old beds. Windows you couldn't see out of. Bathroom ugh. Toilet that flushed when it felt like it and most of the time didn't. Felt like an earthquake every time it tried to manouver. 2 weeks of sleepless nights. Paid cruise ship price to bounce about on a ferry for 2 weeks.

We have just returned from the 12th/19th March cruise. Thomsons/TUI seem to have acted on all the points which are under their control. The toilets worked without problem all the 7 days, our cabin had been completely refurbished and all the bedding etc was brand new. The en-suite was the best we have had on any Thompson/Island vessel ( we have sailed on them 4 times previously ). Refurbishment of the rest of the ship was obviously well under way and most of the ship looked most acceptable. The food was excellent as were the staff and especially the entertainment - try finding that on a holiday anywhere in England in mid-March!
All in all a very enjoyable cruise and we would certainly go on the IE again, even before the refurbishment in November.

We travelled on the Island Escape five years ago (was our first cruise) they were having problems with the loo's then - the w.c in the cabins on our deck would not flush for a day which is not good to say the least. I would have thought that five years down the line the problem would have been resolved. People keep reading these reviews but still book and travel on the I.E. We have never and would never travel on her again if only for health reasons. We have however travelled on several other ships since and have never encountered anything like the Island Escape - thankfully. Don't be put off cruising you were just unlucky.

We've been on P & O Oceana and knew it wouldn't be the same standard. We've also been on Ocean Village which is informal and relaxed so we were expecting that sort of cruise. How wrong! It was a real let down.
