We have just got back from sailing on the Island Escape Colourful Coasts, now as much as I prefer this ship to a larger one I have to say all the time it spent in dry dock for a refit you cannot see where the money went. We had a deluxe balcony cabin and they are lovely and roomy and the large sliding door to get onto the balcony give you a lovely view especially when entering and leaving port but they have spent some money in putting new doors in but no instructions on how to actually close them which believe me was not easy, if going in one of these cabins then when sliding the door shut turn the handle upwards and holding the right hand side of the door in the middle so that the bottom is pushed against the frame, then slide into place eventually after a few tries you manage to close it. Apart from that our cabin had been revarnished but not very well, the curtains could have done with a repair as a tear in the lining was not very good, you get a fridge in the deluxe balcony cabin which is handy for putting water, coke cans etc in, air conditioning could be a little better as it still got warm even though the time of year is not particulary warm.
We did notice that carpet was def new as were the carpets outside the cabins but in the other areas steps etc they were not new we noticed a few threadbare bits on the stairs area's.
The crossing was pretty bad a couple of nights and my poor body is still going up and down and we got off the ship yesterday so that gives you some idea of how rough it was and how bad the stabilisers are.
We used the beachcomer restaurant as I like to eat as and when and when I am not too good as with the rough weather this suited me fine that I could just go get food little and often, we have used the Island restaurant on a previous cruise and that is a very nice restaurant and a little more formal.
We didn't do any of the activities onboard but we did join in with the quiz's and really enjoyed those plenty of different subjects to suit everyone. The entertainment was standard cruise ship they wouldn't win anything but still enjoyed the singers etc.
We did 2 excursions the Taste of Madeira which we went up to Monte in the cable car and came back down on the toboggans which was brilliant, the view from the cable car was priceless and you could see down into the port and realised how small the IE is against the bigger ships, we also did the Fantasia and Souks in Agadir Morocco and had a great half day doing that, they took us to where you can have your picture taken on a camel you get charged 1 euro and 5 euro if you want to have a go on the camel, be careful though once on the camel for your photo they then start to walk around with you on the camel and no amount of telling them to let you off stops them, when he finally stopped with me he asked for 5 euro and I insisted 1 euro was the agreed price for me to have my husband take my photo sat on the camel, I had told him photo only not ride it was not my problem if he chose to walk me around when I told him no so stick to your guns on that one. The Fantasia was very good it is their dancing that they do at weddings etc and was very interesting and not choreographed which made it so much better.
Don't know what else I can tell you about this trip, most ports were pretty good to come into some were a walk away some you needed to get a shuttle, if in a wheelchair this one is not for you as a lot of the ports you had to come off at deck 5 and this involved a very long ramp or steps so not too good if wheelchair bound.
If you do require any further info just ask and I will answer you hope my review helps anyone wishing to go on this trip also done the med one 2 years ago.

Have done several Thomson ships, The Dream being the worst and the Destiny our best, would you say this ship was comfortable, was the food good, was it clean. Were there many kids on board? Were there enough sunbeds and chairs around the pools, what were the pools like...any more info would be great.
